Basic principle of game design, if the content is not fun, it doesn't matter what the reward is, players will not come out of that content happy. They'll come out feeling tired, worn out, or even punished.Forcing players to play the fight instead of letting them reap the rewards of the work they put in to utterly overwhelm it sucks, Blizzard. And that's before you get to the part where it bugs out and becomes actively unfair.
"We tried giving her an absolutely insane amount of health, but players still found ways to ignore her phases (1-shots), so we just force you to do her phases instead - that should be much more fun for our players!"
Not just this fight. The forced phases on Duriel are a pita. Belial fight as well, you cannot use offensive skills during the eye phase, only defensives.
The lillith fight is completely fine, but the issue is that you now get one-shotted. Even with forced phases I enjoy the fight and love facing lillith every season to test my builds, but dodging like 100 flying skulls in the last phase when just 1 one of them instantly oneshots you is too punishing imo.
I only played this game in Season 1 and killed Lilith at that point. The fight would bug out about 95% of the time and become unkillable if you did too much damage. Really left a terrible taste in my mouth considering ARPGs are all about becoming brokenly OP.
Lilith this season…, play or invite rogue.Rogue this season can stand in all the $%^& and survives.
This is one of the reasons why the gaming community likes "Action RPGs" and not "Diablo-Like" trash made game by Dev's that just don't understand what makes a game fun and compelling to play.Wish I could insert the Spongebob GIF of the fish saying "Ohhh brother, this guy stinks!"
She is doable when the fight work without most of the bugs. When it starts to bug, like casting skills while transitioning to phase 2, immunity outside of the arena while stacking the debuff on you without any reason to do it (no skills hitting you, you just take 10+ stacks out of nowhere), hitbox bugging, mixing skills together, etc. then its over. The most frustating thing on all lair bosses, is the new immunity frames while casting a skill, not when transitioning phases or hp locks, but exactly immunity frames like fighting games and you waste your ults, etc. for no reason.
the mechanics are just poorly designed was never really fun instant kills are never fun, so now to avoid you just stand in the middle spamming skills on all classes to build fortify/barrier and ignore the mechanics takes zero skill involved, D4 has a boss problem in general though not just lilith everything is either 1 shot kill or 1 shot to next phase stand waiting to 1 shot next phase till its dead
Took me several tries to beat her on T1 for the spark. Really not looking forward to doing so on T4 for the season journey.
lul people actually need todo mechanics now and not just nuke her down in two seconds.
Looks like no one is using Duriel’s boss power as main to make this fight ridiculously easy
I wonder which developer thought it would be a good idea to have the final boss fight of this loot hunting RPG render your character's entire loot hunt meaningless by making the final boss go immune to damage
I don’t understand their obsession with one shot mechanics. Yes, it shouldn’t be possible to one shot endgame bosses and I agree that the fights should be longer and feature some mechanics but they can’t all be one shot mechanics! It’s like we went from the extreme of players one shotting bosses to bosses now one shotting players. Enough already, balance the game or leave well enough alone!
