Blizzard Removing Timegating on All Citrine Gems in Upcoming Hotfix

Posted 2024/12/20 at 1:48 PM by Squishei

Today, we’re working to update the game with a hotfix that will make all of the Singing Citrines available on Siren Isle, allowing players to acquire all of them in the current week.

The system was originally designed to have different Citrines be associated with different enemy cultures as they invaded Siren Isle on a rotating basis, but having to wait for a specific invasion type in order to obtain your Citrine of choice has felt like it’s creating more frustration than anticipation.

The gems belonging to the goblins, Arathi, and Earthen should come from doing events on the isle that are started at the Siren Isle Command Map. After getting them once, you’ll be able to buy them and store them in your Warbank for your alts as usual.

The gems that belong to enemy factions should now be purchasable from Taljori, the Tortollan vendor sitting on the large rock behind Bargus.

Happy holidays!

After 20 years it never fails to amaze me what kind of absolutely braindead ideas make it through the meetings at Blizzard.

Yeah Blizzard -- maybe start learning from your continued mistakes and misses? Just do it right the first time.

Sweet, now the ring will still sim worse than current gear but just not as bad!

I don't know why they thought the "anticipation" would have ever been positive or meaningful in any way whatsoever, but good change!

Comment by spacedeath

I’d be fine waiting for certain gems to make the BiS profile if it meant that the ring was still a competitive choice upon acquisition, but not being able to even use the ring from the get-go with having gems that worked for all roles was a huge miss. W Blizzard for rectifying this.

EEEEYYYY someone finally flipped the switches back on in their brains.

Comment by runicpower

finally someone realized that pushing out a new article stating that "this ring will be the best untill atleast midway through heroic undermine" .... and then actually releasing the ring and it being trash was somewhat of an issue

At last something to do on the island. First day a few quests. Yesterday one quest in the storm, earlier today no quests in either zone apart from rares.

when is the hot fix taking place?

Comment by Archstone

Couldn’t have said it better.

Comment by DamnMicro

Best part is I know that there will be complaints about the content being blown through too quickly (on what is intended to be a stopgap patch to help fill the time between major patches).
