BDK has improved but it still feels sad to parse 100s and do less damage than every other tank, all the while relying on basically rng item effect procs for most of my damage. Can't wait for 10.1.5 to drop my damage cuz the annulet and eggnog ring get nerfed!
Show damage without all these stupid borrowed power trinkets propping up parses.

Man a lot of people here don't play tanks. No threat to tanks? If we fail a mechanic in Mythic raid we just die, some bosses like Rionthus just slog the hell outta you with autos. Rashok is a fun fight but taunt wrong and it's a wipe.In a M+ if you don't know what every single mob is capable of doing in that big pull you die and brick the key. Don't path correctly? Dead.Tank damage is important but it will always put more work on the healers to keep them alive. If your asking a tank to go for dmg over defenses you better be a spot healer on them.

A useless statistis. More relevant for tanks would be damage taken or avoided, heal taken, and the ratio of self heal vs. heal from external sources.The purpose of a tank is take care of boss and mob aggro, and to survive. For aggro there will be some DPS needed, but it does not matter if the tank creates 200% or 500% more aggro than the DDs. But if the tank dies, DPS will no longer matter.
It's an incomplete picture, some tank specs can do their maximum damage potential of close with a relatively safe build, others have to be willing to risk dying and grief their guilds.For example on a prot paladin you have to pick beetween 50% uptime on 30% damage reduction+15% max hp and 20% crit.It's a 15k dps gap between the 2 but one makes you a tank and the other doesn't.Which means the 95th percentile of some tanks is good players but on hard hitting bosses the 95th percentile of paladins is people willing to die and lose their guilds pulls and isn't representative of what the real tank damage balance on that fight should look like.
