post on Twitterinterview with the Los Angeles Timesend-of-year update

Mike Ybarra

We previously announced we’re taking a pause on BlizzCon while we reimagine it for the future but do want to return to a live event that enables us to celebrate the community. We recently hired a new leader of BlizzCon, April McKee, who is hard at work on that plan. ... We are committed to bringing back BlizzCon in 2023.

Additionally, we’ve made several important changes to our teams:

April McKee, Executive Producer of BlizzCon: Yes, we’re bringing BlizzCon back—more on that early next year!

I imagine some of those changes will involve less tickets available/ less people allowed to go but more will be happening inside the convention center than previously (more panels etc).

They gonna announce at Blizzcon to FINALLY buff Hunters for that little Bow Buffs/Nerfs to the ground baby! fiasco, aren't they? 👀😉

Comment by Ragebringer

Too busy hemorrhaging talented employees from their franchises to focus on Blizzcon, I'd imagine.

Comment by Peesneeze

Finally a Blizzcon dedicated on telling us they are deleting mages. Hallelujah

"Oh god someone spilled the beans that we're losing a vast amount of workers, quick, throw out the announcements!"

It happens every damn time with this company: drama/lawsuit is revealed, blizz gives epic news to hype fans up and point them away from drama, wait for next drama

Comment by Kerathras

Sounds like they forgot that a venue has to be booked months in advance and all the arrangements made well ahead of that.

Like everything for Blizzard, this is a big deal in the sense that it CANNOT fail. Its either a huge success or people will walk out on this company.

So with that said....

Anything short of:

1. Next WoW expac announcement.
2. Next D4 expac / patch announcement.
3. MAJOR information and announcement on the new MMO they are working on.
4. Some major surprise for SC fans.

The Con will be garbage. Or at least that is how people will see it. Nothing short of those things will make it "good".

Not to mention... YOU BEST BELIEVE, there will be some sort of protest of some kind with regards to what is happening at Blizzard with the whole WFH and people leaving and low pay etc etc etc.

I do not envy Blizz right now.

If you're not doing good damage as a hunter your gear is bad or you're bad

At this point I'm just waiting for news of ToGC... I thought the original point was for Ulduar to stay relevant for the entirety of ToC, but now its own phase has been about as long as all other raid phases. People are starting to get all of their BiS, others are getting bored, if it continues for much longer then most of the next raid's gear other than 25man HC will be borderline useless and the raid won't hold people's attention for more than a month. Also need to figure out what they're going to do with HC+ dungeons I guess, but still. Personally if there aren't any news soon then I'd rather skip ToC entirely and go straight to ICC. 😢

I think you greatly over estimate how many people care unless you mean Blizzard employees protesting.

Return to the office isn't unique to Blizz in any way. 3 days a week is already the norm in tech and dev and it will eventually move to 5. People leaving because of low pay solves itself. Either they pay more or lose people. If people are staying with low pay, its usually because they can't get a job anywhere else.

I'd really like to go, but I need the information on what the date will be pretty soon or I may have difficulty with conflicts.

Comment by Furydeath

oh right it was "covid" that cause blizzcon to not happen

Did a Hunter beat you in DPS or 1v1? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The post was about how poorly they have handled the Bow "nerf" and since then further nerfs to Hunters, I've seen plenty of bad players still doing less damage than Hunters or standing in fire and die anyway and feeling these nerfs are justified to feel better after their failures. 😆

Microsoft is about to take over Activision Blizzard, do you think they’re going to keep Blizzcon or are they going to assemble a bigger Con with all of their titles and franchises in a single place. The XboxCon.

"There's huge issues with staff walking out of Blizzard due to RTO policies".

Mike Ybarra - "Hey everyone, look over here at THIS thing! BlizzCon! WOOO! No news, but look anyway."
