Upcoming Talent Tree Preview for Mistweaver Monk - Jade Bond, Unison, Tea of Plenty

Hello Mistweaver Monks! We have a few updates to the Mistweaver spec tree coming in the next beta build. We’d like to take a moment and discuss our upcoming changes and the philosophy behind them.2 Point Node Positioning:The 2-point node placement on this tree has been a little tricky to get into what we feel is the right spot. Overflowing Mists is a situationally powerful bonus, so we don’t want it controlling pathing in the bottom of the tree. Resplendent Mist felt like its use cases were more universal than its positioning. Peaceful Mending shouldn’t block off any pathways but should feel like it contributes to navigating down the tree if selected.To accommodate these principles, we’ve moved Overflowing Mist back up to above gate 2, Resplendent Mist has moved to the node below Ancient Teachings of the Monastery and Clouded Focus, and Peaceful Mending is occupying a new connection on the right side of the tree that is not exclusively blocking any pathing below. This new pathing has also enabled Bountiful Brew and Attenuation to move up and directly connect to Bonedust Brew.Jade Bond:We’ve been steadily moving most of Jade Bond’s value to its Gust of Mist/Soothing Breath bonus. The dichotomy we’re looking for on this choice node is more frequent access via Gift of the Celestials versus more impactful access via Jade Bond. We’re hopefully continued tuning can get us there.Unison:We’ve made this into a choice node with Restorative Proliferation to make the middle path towards Invoker’s Delight slightly more appealing for all builds. Unison being on its own may have felt like a choice limiter to some builds who were interested in pursuing Invoker’s Delight.Tea of Plenty:We’re interested in pursuing this “random bag of goodies” design but felt the swing of expected value from this ability was too large, especially with the reintroduction of Essence Font to Thunder Focus Tea. In future beta builds, we’ve split Tea of Plenty’s effect into a choice node of two spells.Tea of Serenity will give Thunder Focus Tea an extra charge of Renewing Mist, Enveloping Mist, or Vivify. Tea of Plenty will give Thunder Focus Tea an extra charge of Renewing Mist, Rising Sun Kick, or Essence Font. Hopefully this will maintain the same feel of the talent while allowing players to customize more towards their desired outcome.Here’s the new layout you can expect to see:

Tea of Serenity. New Talent, Row 10. Thunder Focus Tea also grants Renewing Mist, Enveloping Mist, and Vivify 1 extra charge at random.

Windwalker still needs fixes, and the base class tree still has some major issues (SooM gatekeeping Roll, Expel Harm talents breaking the flow of the left side of the tree, the tertiary stat auras being badly bugged, Fort Brew being buried, and those awful statue capstones). Even if you never go it for Fistweaving (need Upwelling and Rising Mist, and a 33% haste buff that is active 33% of the time is too good to pass up) it does show consideration to both playstyles.

I think ideally this choice node swapped locations with the Unison one as I still think this tree is asking for disaster in the patch after Dragonflight, but it is consistent with what they said about splitting the tree for easier balance purposes (which I also think is idiotic, but it is what it is).Comment by SeniaaGood changes. MW has major issues at its core since LEGION, trying to iterate on a version of MW that has been left for the last minute for 3 expansions in a row is a mistake as we always have ended up as a halfbaked spec.

They want to have 2 playstyles in the same tree and have the nodes not corelate each other for some weird reason as they've explained in a blue post . When was the last time both of the playsyles worked together? Thats right! MoP as WoD introduced crane stance as an addition to serpent stance and swaping between them was not a thing.

Back in MoP if you mistweaved you were good, if you just fistweaved you were bad but if you did both you were an excelent MW monk.
How was mistweaving good?The toolkit worked in complete sinergy: generate Chi> expend Chi> generate mana tea charges.
-You would generate Chi by using 4 spells: Soothing mist, Renewing Mist, Expel harm and Surging mist.
-You would expend Chi and at the same time gain mana tea charges by using 2 spells: Enveloping mist and Uplift.

How was fistweaving bad? Simply puttin: Not enough healing output, main generator too expensive and very weird interactions, as fisweaving healing was spread into ToM, Eminence and your base toolkit.

How was mixing both playstyles excellent? Generating extra Chi, on demand aoe heal with no ramp up time, smart healing, cheap matainance healing, contribute to damage.
-You would get extra chi with Jab.
-You would have on demand aoe heal with Spinning crane kick.
-You would do smart healing by just using any damage spell.
-Crackling jade lighting low cost mana, tiger palm and Blackout kick only costing Chi helped you having cheap mantainance healing and contribute to damage.

Knowing all of this wouldn't be wiser to have MoP's MW back (obviously tweaking it to curent times) and work on the fistweaving part? or is it that I am just nuts?

Curently I just see them bringing a Soothing mist build where you have to sit for the full duration to be somewhat worth (this has never happened, we never ever sat pressing Soothing mist for its full duration) and repeating the same mistake as in MoP by splitting Fistweaving into many nodes and making them have weird interactions (like spinning crane healing through Chi ji and Faeline stomp but not from AToM).

The "good thing" now is that we are able to reach top numbers by having little control to who you are healing, the downgrade of not being able to smart heal at all, and the annoyance of having to press Fae/Essence to make your other spells do what they're already suppose to do.

Don't they realise this is just a cheap and worst version of what we had in MoP? Is so annoying to watch your favourite spec being dismantle and then sticking it back little by little in a weird way and with missing parts.Comment by DaeeroCool now where is WW? Since trees came out WW tree just became worse, with useless talents (inner peace), hated talents that literally no one asked for and actually everyone was gratefull it was gone in first tree, just to be brought back (hit combo), lazy design talents (while not in the WW tree, that tiger statue is ridiculously lazy designe, and that's all that guy added in over a month since tree came out) and several not even functional talents (all the ToD ones and a few others). Talents like last emperor capacitor, that should make us at least be able to channel crackling jade lightning while on the move still the same (cause I totally want to cast something as what's is supposed to be the most mobile melee in the game), and that super bloated xuen part of the tree (I like the talents, but the one that comes before whirling dragon punch, for example, that gives xuen lighting damage, should just be baked into xuen). Btw this guy even copy pasted that bonedust brew amplifier passive twice on the end node, simply making calculated strikes disappear, shows how much work he puts in actually doing something decent...

Not even gonna mention chi burst/chi wave being locked behind this trash version of a instant vivify every 10s, that now I'm forced to pick since it became clunky, because I want chi burst, and that extra roll charge that is STILL under SooM (?)Comment by arnubs08NevermindComment by LindevaWhere should I start.... WW was a very good spec for m+ and pvp (even in raid had its place in aoe fights) for the whole SL expansion, MW was bottom tier in every aspect of the game the whole SL expansion and its not sure that this wont be the case in Dragonflight too.. Dont we deserve some attention? Cant we not at least have a fun spec to play?
