Ten Things a WoW Player Would Want to Know About Diablo Immortal

Posted 2022/05/26 at 5:22 PM by CinereousStyx

Diablo Immortal is free to play. While there are many things you might want to buy later in your career in-game, it's not required. And, you can spend plenty of time trying out the game and seeing whether you like it, without spending one copper shilling.

There are no dedicated healer or tank classes. Anyone can resurrect you. Basically the real distinction is just melee versus ranged. Every character has its own damage and healing abilities. While Crusaders and Barbarians are probably the most durable classes, they are not 'tanks' in the WoW sense.

Factions are very limited. It's not like World of Warcraft reputations. You are an Adventurer unless you choose to become a Shadow and strive to become an Immortal. Those factions each have their rewards and challenges, but there is nothing quite like "reputation."

There are both Clans of up to a hundred players and eight person Warbands. Neither is quite like a WoW guild. The shared Warband stash is not like the shared guild stash and offers only limited item transfer.

Dungeons and Raids are much quicker and faster paced, although some have fairly complex mechanics. No more all night raids to clear half the instance.

You cannot directly trade items with other players.

Only a few items can be sold on the Market, most notably NOT equipment. You have to find what you wear.

There are no professions, although there are crafters who will make things for you if you have the materials.

There is no gathering, except from fallen enemies, loot chests, and the like. Crafting materials can be salvaged from items you get that you don't plan to use.

Item scaling is dynamic to you and most items can be upgraded. That low level rare robe you find can probably be upgraded and used until you find a Legendary item you like, and then those upgrade levels can be immediately applied to that Legendary.

There are 30milion+ registered people for diablo immortal

That's comparable to diablo 3 sales over the course of 10 years

Interest in this game is insanely high, this very likely be the biggest diablo game until diablo4 release

Exactly. There are some people who are constantly underestimating this game but it's going to have @#$% ton of players (especially on mobile) and it's going to print #$%^ ton of money.

The mobile gaming market is huge guys. Also the fact the have heard the outcry and also ported this to a working crossplay PC version it is 100% bigger than Diablo 3. They are also riding the coat tails of the Diablo 4 hype and the Diablo 3 content drought, so the eagerness for new Diablo content has also spurred on bigger interest.

They do, and considering the PC port over, it's irrelevant if you don't.

Diablo: Immortal will have the last laugh when the first earnings comes in and it's a giga-&*!@-cash-cow and ^&*!s on everyone who rained on its parade.

Blizzard has no game that is even remotely similar in terms of what you can spend.

1) you can't play it in certain countries cuz of the predatory mtx.

Yeah can you imagine a website based around Blizzard games would talk about a new Blizzard game?

Don't forget that the biggest you climb the biggest you fall-- we are not in the 2000 anymore and now there is real and challenging competition and customers... lets hope they don't just "aimed for china" as an excuse if it fail

Where is tyrael's charger promotional mount.
It should be up there as one of the questions.

Blizzard make it happen, now is the time

Is this true? I thought not. Well.. Technically yes, but practically only those who spent lots of real money will get to become Immortals and do/see the Immortal stuff!

EDIT:; Whops.. misread. Its seeing whether you like it or not.. not see everything you like.. still early.. need more coffee

Comment by zok123

ofc it's going to be the biggest release. It's a free game.
Free games almost always have more players/accounts than paid games.
That does not mean it will be the BEST diablo game ever released.

You must be new to mobile games. This is not unique to the genre in the slightest.

DI seems to be a big thing for some, but I'm not so sure this is the right platform to promote that?

5 DI news articles in the last two days, and they all seem to have less than a handful comments. So no idea where that hype should come from, while most I know are going to try it out the next weeks I don't know of a single one who sits there impatiently watching the release countdown.

I've never understood the attraction for Diablo. Have seen it first around 15 years ago. It all seemed too repetitive, just smash large groups of mobs, the navigation seemed ugly, mobs respawned, repeat operation.
I've bought Diablo 3 a few months ago, played it for a while, seemed the same repetitive thing, with a better look.
Don't care about Diablo, tbh, as a WoW player.

The irony being that you do literally the same thing in WoW
