Baine and Lor'themar Conversation in Shadowlands Epilogue

Posted 2022/03/31 at 11:19 PM by perculia

Story Spoilers Ahead.

Lor'themar: To think we now stand on the other side of the veil. That those we lost await us here among these countless afterlives.
Lor'themar: Is there... anyone you would seek out, Baine? For one last conversation before you reutnr to the land of the living?
Baine: No need to spare my feelings, Lor'themar. You are asking if I wish to find my father.
Baine: The truth is... I do not need to. His spirit is always with me, where I go, whatever I do. Guiding me just as his ancestors guided him.
Baine: And what of you? Is there someone you would visit, given the chance?
Lor'themar: Prince Kael'thas. Long have I held the title of Regent Lord, all the while wondering if I was truly suited to lead my people.
Lor'themar: I would ask the last liege of Silvermoon if he regrets the choices he made. A chance to mend old wounds, and perhaps feel that the torch has truly been passed.
Baine: A feeling I understand all too well. I pray your conversation brings you the peace you seek, my friend.

Baine: Father... Mother... Can you stay? I have so much I wish to tell you.
Cairne: I know. But we must wait for another time.

We sin'dorei are no strangers to suffering and tragedy. I have seen my people massacred, my kingdom razed, and all I revere defiled.

When Silvermoon at last rejoined the world, it was Sylvanas who extended her hand and welcomed us into the Horde.

Those days are long behind us now. The devastation and loss inflicted upon Azeroth by the Banshee Queen is nigh incalculable.

The knowledge that I stood by while so much of it happened still haunts me. Perhaps, in the end, judgment will come for me as well.

Sylvanas had me imprisoned and tortured for defying her, though the pain she inflicted upon me pales in comparison to that of her other victims.

For a time, I hated her for what she did to me and to the Horde. But hatred is a poison. Once it seeps into your veins, it will spell your doom.

It is right that Sylvanas faces justice for all she has done. The guilty must stand before those they have wronged... and answer for their crimes.

Lorthermar also have a stay a while and listen with Greymane.

Comment by Colsheppard

What's the bet neither of these happen. We will end shadowlands with none of these characters getting closure

So this is not an april fools ?

before you reutnr to the land of the living?
xD

When I saw that so early in the article, I went "ok, so this must be an April's fools joke", but... the rest seems pretty legit... if it's an April's fools joke, it's a very minor one where you might ask "wait... what's the joke?"
So I guess someone just made a mistake when re-typing the text.

The first real April's fools joke of the year must be the design of the website where you have the menus (classes, patches, legendaries) which are changing to colored rockets.

No? In the short story with Thalyssra, he talks about how vile Kael'thas is.

While he may be on (possibly) amicable terms now, I wouldn't use that word to describe his actions.

This is real :) If you play the game and Once you finish Sylvanas' judgement quests there are quite a few people who have "stay awhile and listen". There are 4 in the Arbiter's Chamber if you go back in there afterwards and 2 in the Ring of Transference.

Sylvanas had me imprisoned and tortured

The heck did you think would happen, my fluffy friend? Releasing a highly important prisoner of war for funzies is no bueno :D Baine should be happy we're not having to call him Patty

It seems not a 1st April joke. It's not funny.

You are getting all this work, so much effort and time for free. Maybe just appreciate it. Boohoo, two articles...

good to actually see this, cause all the horde leaders need to say this as they all just sat around after the genocide, some even had involvement with the night elf invasion as well. Especially thalyssra, who seems not at all concerned that her kin had a genocide committed against them after she was all "Oh I won't be like Elisandre, we're different to 10k years ago" to Tyrande. She seems more concerned with her stupid romance with Lor'thermar instead.

The horde should not get off for their involvement in the genocide, even if they didn't directly order the genocide, at the least they need to be giving the night elves reparations for the genocide.

For the people thinking it's an April Fools joke... It's not, this is in the game.

The other April Fools joke post already got posted.

I agree, but Saurfang is written as being supportive of the war in the novel, at least until he has to fight a named character like Malfurion and the tree is set on fire.
He's been whitewashed so hard in the aftermath you'd think he was a complete pacifist and the playerbase has lapped it up. Wrathion wanted the exact same $%^& essentially back in MOP and the playerbase love him.

Hard to really write much of this without it just looking silly.

I feel like the last conversation between living and dead sin'dorei should be between Rommath and Kael'thas, Rommath was hurt for years, he personally witnessed what Kael'thas did.

Comment by MaximusPM

Not sure if an April Fool's joke or real... better not read just in case contain real spoilers.

This expansion will be worth it if we can finally get Lor'themar to man up and accept that he is the right, permanent leader of the blood elves

One of the most toxic segments of the player base are those who have come to regard the lore with contempt when they only have enough understanding to have questions but not enough to actually understand the answer so they revert to the most basic, one dimensional, reduced, and insulting carciature of the lore they can think of and try to pass it off as reality.
