Beast Mastery Hunter Class Set Tuning for March 8 - 4-Piece Now Also Empowers Multi-Shot

We’re currently working on the following adjustment to Beast Mastery Hunter’s 4-piece set bonus, which we intend to make live with scheduled weekly maintenance on Tuesday, March 8 in this region.

(4) Set Bonus: The set bonus now reads as – Kill Command critical hits empower your next Cobra Shot or Multi-Shot, increasing the damage and cooldown reduction of Cobra Shot by 40% or causing Multi-Shot to grant an additional 6 seconds of Beast Cleave.

We are adding additional functionality to the 4-piece bonus for Beast Mastery Hunters. When your Kill Command critically strikes, it now empowers either your next Cobra Shot with the existing functionality, or causes your next Multi-Shot to cause your next Beast Cleave to last 6 seconds longer. This should allow you to focus more on Barbed Shot, Cobra Shot, and Kill Command in AoE situations and worry less about using a Multi-Shot every 4 seconds to keep the Beast Cleave buff active.

It just means more KC/CS combos before Multi-shotting again. We will still be doing single target rotation in AoE fights, but using Multi-Shot for a little AoE damage while doing it. That doesn't address the lack of AoE damage from set bonuses. It just makes it so doing our meager AoE damage doesn't impact our single target as bad. The only way to make this a good change (as opposed to a token change) is to allow Kill Command to cleave during Beast Cleave windows.

You do realize beast cleave is your AOE right? So an extended period of this makes it easier to manage the other AOE effecting ability barbed shot and the frenzy buff it applies to your pets. You pretty much cast 1 less multi-shot which isn't doing much damage in the first place unless its like 20 targets. That means, this is a buff, and you got buffed. You want "big numbers many targets" switch to marksman and you get to do that every trick shot. Buff Beast Cleave and make it hit harder. Don't make it last longer FGS Blizzard - 10 seconds of wet noodles is "better" than 4, in much the same way that getting kicked in the nuts is "better" than getting kicked in the nuts twice.

Make KC, Kill Shot, Cobra and/or Barbed Shot damage spread/splash via Beast Cleave, or make those abilities increase the amount of damage done by Beast Cleave by a percentage of the damage done by each ability during Beast Cleave.

BM AoE has been poor for a long while now. But I wish Blizzard devs understood how their own creations functionally work, or what makes them tick. Yeah, this change means 2-3 more CS or KC during Beast Cleave, but BC only splashes the pets' own melee attacks, not the Hunter's.

As to everything else, for the moment BM overall isn't in too a bad of a place at the start of Sepulcher of the First Ones. Overall it's 10th on all heroic bosses across the 8 released so far, so it's not the end of the world, the sky is not falling etc. Not yet. We'll see how Tier affects that when 4pc starts coming in next week.

But yeah Blizz, get a hold of how BM AoE could and should be buffed. A BC duration increase is not it, it's negligible at best.Comment by ToviValdoraYay buff them more!
