Blizzard Adds Even More Context for Post-Nerf Tier 6 Content in Burning Crusade Classic

Posted 2022/01/09 at 10:59 AM by Rokman

not be a "Pre-Nerf" version of Tier 6 contentadditional context to this decision

I agree that we could have been a bit more explicit. From our perspective it was “oh turn off the switch that enabled all those changes we made” essentially reverting it back to the 2.4.3 (post-nerf) state that we started with internally.Of course, from the perspective of players clearing the content weekly, its not as obvious what we did to make it “pre-nerf” so its likewise not as obvious what gets nerfed when we turn those off. You can scour 15-year-old patch notes to try to figure it out, but we’ll try to be more explicit in the future. Sorry about that!(We’re all busy, of course, so I can only say we’ll try our best! Time is everybody’s enemy! )Regarding post-nerf stages in general, our overall philosophy was: “when the next tier unlocks we go to post-nerf,” but obviously we let T5 go a bit early so people could get attuned for Tier 6 over the holidays. Also, we need SOMETHING to trigger the nerf of Sunwell since we haven’t announced any content coming after it, so we’ll try to give you a heads-up about when that nerf is coming, but its obviously a ways off since we haven’t even released Hyjal and Black Temple yet. (Soon!)We certainly want everybody to get a chance to experience the harder versions of these bosses as they were originally released, as well as giving people a chance to progress past them in the form the eventually ended up in.Hope that helps clarify our intent, even if it doesn’t provide much in the way of details.

I'm more confused than I was before.

Comment by Dangitsmcg

Read like nothing was even said. Just heart emoji's that are supposed to make players feel better. Strange.

Comment by Hollyvyre

Would be nice to know the date of release T6 or at least S3 season. Will be there 1 week between S2 -> S3 or more?

Comment by 1337cowslayer

i'm even more confused now.

Does this mean you guys intend to tweak the stats on t6 content?

since in the first post you said that there was no pre nerf version of black temple.

Comment by 1Cephei

Ah, this bluepost is an answer to someone on the forum, you have to read the thread of the original post to understand wtf is he talking about

"our overall philosophy was: “when the next tier unlocks we go to post-nerf”

Hmm

"we need SOMETHING to trigger the nerf of Sunwell"

Wotlk Confirmed ?

Comment by Niniann

How are you guys confused? I will make it clearer.

The message says that they will do better in the future when it comes to announcing ahead of time that nerfs are happening to raid content. And not just that content is being nerfed, but what those nerfs are.

The rest is just a little backstory to the process and a hint of what's to come.

"we are all busy" THAT"S YOUR F$#@* JOB!

I don't even know what to think. I really try to like Blizzard and give the people still there the benefit of a doubt. Then I read posts like this. It's your job to have patch notes, it's your job to communicate release dates, it's your job to try and deliver on a quality product to the best of your ability. I could keep going but no one at Blizzard is going to read this and now I'm just another guy venting on the internet.

no release dates on phases, no info, no comunication

then blue post we are all busy , 2 times early ptr shutdown beacuse all is bugged and unstable as hell

wtf?

"We’re all busy, of course, so I can only say we’ll try our best! Time is everybody’s enemy!"

What you mean you so busy? It's almost 20 year old game FFS. Can't properly nerf 15 year old expansion. Only in Blizzard!
And what's that with those emojies, is this some kind of new fashion? We're here to read technical details not some teenagers clumsy love letter. Pls stop! If you can't deliver then just quit.

Oh my god... All these posts with emojis...
Blizzard treating "Official Blue Posts" as a 14 year old girls twitter updates... WTF?

I think the issue with Hyjal and Black Temple tuning really comes down to this. If there was ANY change most of the dedicated raiders wanted to see in TBC Classic was that BT and MH be tuned to be HARDER than they were originally.

Mag, Gruul, and Kara were EZ but to be expected as they were P1.

SSC and TK was a nice balance of difficulty and teamwork and as you geared up you really felt like you were getting stronger with more Stamina and more stats. Bosses died sooner. Healers had more mana and regen, tanks were beefier.

We feel like since the state of BT and MH were tuned originally with the mindset that a VERY small amount of players were able to farm TK and SCC the way we have now so most players were going in with Kara gear and rep gear at this point.

Sure, I know Sunwell is going to be HARDER and we are looking forward to it but it would have been REALLY awesome if they made BT and MH harder this time around. Just start the SoM mindset now Blizzard. You are going to splinter your player base.

I didn't think there was any question about their intent. The pattern has already been there.

For context, it is in response to this from the forum (click "view original" link at the top of the blue post)

I would love to have a clear, written out list of what changes pre- and post-nerf SWP will entail (when it’s time- not necessarily right this moment.)
It was very frustrating to only be given, “reverting to their nerfed state” re: t5 nerfs. Nobody knew what that meant until the PTR. Imagine our shock when we were expecting Kael and Vashj to be slightly HP nerfed, then experiencing… all of that.
I personally combed through dozens of pages of patch and hotfix notes and I still think I only ever got a quarter of the changes that were pushed.
In future content and potential nerfs, please be more clear about what the changes and nerfs are. I’m excited to see pre- and post- nerf SWP, however. Why were the massive t5 nerfs pushed?

Are you planning on gradually releasing the instance like in ye olden days, as well? How long after pre-nerf will it be post-nerf? Nerfing it all in one fell swoop like t5, or more progressively/dynamically? Will we get to see Muru in its original, “impossible” state? I know these questions are decently far in advance, I’m just curious as to where the team might be headed with it and what your thoughts on it were. Thank you!

It makes more sense seeing this first, otherwise the blue text is just, a wall of nothing really.

wtf?

How dare they shut down the TEST realm? How dare they have bugs on it?
It's not like it was designed to test the patch before launch!

"Also, we need SOMETHING to trigger the nerf of Sunwell since we haven’t announced any content coming after it"

This means they gonna do some new content after Sunwell? Like new patch and raid and maybe gear? I had dream about this long time ago, is it impossible? Or he just means wrath of the lich king (meh)
TBC deserves something new after Sunwell. Was asking myself so many times what would be TBC if they had a chance to create one more big patch like 2.4.
