Fan Creations: Game Master Creates and Shares Azeroth Maps for Tabletop RPGs

Posted 2021/10/17 at 8:05 PM by Paryah

shared a couple of maps

EDIT: We erroneously identified Grazzbek as the creator of these maps. They reached out with the following message:
I am actually the GM in question and while Im flattered they were on the lookout for me, this isnt my work and there are several ways this work differs from my own. These maps pretty faithfully recreate the zones while I take the zones and expand upon them and make changes making them scaled up to the size of a world roughly earth sized. I hope Wowhead sees this and makes the changes. Whoever made these maps deserved to get credit for their work and whoever made these isnt me.

The actual creator of these maps is Esben.

The website they used is Inkarnate. It's actually a really neat little map-making website that I've used a few times. Lots of talent there.

why the "redridge mountains" and "mulgore" looks different to current game version ?

Few oddities with the Kalimdor map. Mout Hyjal has the Sufuron Keep, but Thousand Needles isn't flooded and Azshara isn't Goblin enhanced.

Still remarkable looking maps, and if I ever get around to running a WoW based DnD game, I'll absolutely use them.

I wish Mulgore looked like that in game.

Amazing!

Teldrassil the best one.
P.S. RIP.

Kinda wish there was alot more creativity and lore-throwbacks, where the zones are way bigger , like in teh books, with alot more to explore.
Also, the world is post-cata..yet Azshara is pre-cata ?

Because he uses the Vanilla version of those Maps as a reference.

Grazz has his own version of the Warcraft setting he uses for dnd iirc. It's likely he took parts he liked and then got rid of parts he didn't for it.

Who else wishes there was a tabletop Risk with all WoW maps, I mean, territories are already determined in-game and we have plenty of continents, including maybe draenor/outland, Shadowlands, Argus and the islands like Zandalar and Kul Tiras. Also, we have plenty of races, maybe just use 4 and 2 colors each. It would be epic! I'll keep praying...

Wouldn't work. The Tauren fled there because then they could counter any threats from the centaur. After countless generations of assaults the Tauren know peaceful livelihoods because of the valley that Mulgore is comprised of, with only the narrow eastern opening as the "only" way in.

But... why not just use maps that already exist within the game? What's the point of this?

Amazing work! love it
