Always curious as to why they don't give an extra day of game time when they do server maintenance for this long...

Edit: I'm not someone who can play everyday, nor am I asking for monetary compensation. Understanding that Tuesday is maintenance day, I believe that if you have an extended maintenance - which in this case is currently 8 hours - you should be able to add that time back to people's subscriptions. Not sure why I'm getting all this hate / being told I'm entitled. You must not like playing the game if you are against having more game time due to extended maintenance.

Because it's 12 cents of your game time if you pay $15 a month and you agreed to pay it regardless of service availability?

definitely not a vanilla baby if you think this is long heh

I suppose it's long by modern metrics but I'd rather blizzard under promise and over deliver

What about the people who can only play 1 day a week on Tuesday mornings? This is basically like missing a whole week of playtime for them. It should give 7 days free game time.

You'd probably lose your mind at FF14's 24 hour maintenances for patches lol

this is so typical of wow players on wowhead comments. Thinking about the 0.00001% edge case and concern trolling about it

WoWHead, please, include the conversions for the European time on such posts. Not saying it's hard to do ourselves through Google, but it'd definitely be great to just open an article and get the answer right away. Thanks!

Pretty sure they're joking... At least I hope they do.

According to the Battle.net app the maintenance for Europe is between 6am CEST and 2pm CEST.

Realistically speaking though EU will be down for 2 hours max after NA guinnea pigs the patch like usual.

Because you get 365 days of subscription for the price of 360 days worth if you do the math, and the "five days" extra covers the maintenance time. Just the weekly reset is 52 x 15 minutes = 780 minutes =13 hours. Deduct 13 hours from this extra 5 days, and you got 4 days 11 hours left. That's generally 123 minutes a week for maintenance on average. Yeah, in the past they've been exceptionally generous with "free days" but that was for time of unexpected fault causing down time and not for routine maintenance. If maintenance is on average 138 minutes (2 hrs 18mins) a week why do THEY need to give you 24 hours of play time for THAT?

I agree with this response to you...

I'm just doing the math... You're doing the very thing that might have made Blizzard into the sort of company it is now, MariMoon, and that's a company always going "rush, rush, rush, they want more from us" when maybe they need to WAIT THREE YEARS for the next expansion and EXPAND the Shadowlands as much as they can do...!

My life will be meaningless for those 7 hours :P

Hope you are trolling and seriously dont pay $15 for max 8hrs of continous game time (not including any breaks of any kind) once every 6 months or so (in this case approx 8 months).... NO game is worth that.

I totally can't understand why people are getting upset at the guy asking about game time reimbursement because it actually used to be a thing they did up until 2008 or 2009. Pretty recently, they changed the Account History section at battle.net to not show transactions prior to 2015 (and, if you're trying to verify, for transactions before that you now have to "Request a Copy of Your Data" which opens a ticket that can take up to a month to resolve), but I know for a fact that for long "unplanned" maintenances they would add a day of game time to the end of the subscription. These patch downtimes aren't unplanned obviously, but imo someone asking for a day to be tacked on for just long maintenance isn't some out-of-the-blue nutty begging to me. (Plus, just a quick note, they still don't add time for unplanned maintenances anymore, and instead they sometimes retroactively call maintenance after server issues planned so it's a totally different can of worms now than it was then.)

Personally, I don't mind it or even want reimbursement to happen (because the non-reimbursement is just normal for subscription services now even when entire services crash for long periods), but getting all up-in-arms and going after the guy up top for being entitled is insanity, knowing that it used to be somewhat commonplace.
