Permanent Misdirection Bug Used for Plagueborer Snaps in The Great Push Mythic+ Tournament

Note: We tried to replicate snapping the Wretched Plagueborer on live servers without the permanent Misdirection bug and were unable to do so, trying to replicate the factors such as making sure to Feign Death and having the party being in combat. However, applying the permanent Misdirection bug causes the Wretched Plagueborer snap to work flawlessly.

They detonate on a timer, compared to when their health gets low.
They wouldn't normally snap, as they do not global combat the entire group. If a Hunter would Feign Death, the Virulax Blightweaver would just reset as no one else is in combat with it.

How far the Wretched Plagueborer can run before they explode.
How far the Hunter or Rogue can travel before their Misdirection ability falls off their target and timing it with a Wretched Plagueborer spawn.

Sounds like disqualifications is comming if exploiting a bug.

Comment by Fignewtun

cheaters actually won real money today, Bad precedent set by blizzard. This allows you to abuse bugs on a global scale at this point.

Comment by Hathlock

Otherwise known as exploiting

Comment by aragaren

They should be disqualified for exploiting. Taking advantage of a bug to gain an unfair advantage is the very definition.

He wasnt even using MD lol

that is 100% not true

Comment by TobiasAmaranth

Contentious opinion but: Speedrunning communities constantly encouraging the use of bugs and exploits is creating this lack of respect towards the games themselves. This is an extension of that. It's not combating with the rules that were designed, it's combating with the limitations of the format itself. And that's a shame...

Comment by TheCheat54

If the Misdirection exploit was actually used, they should be completely disqualified. Mob snapping has been seen as "creative use of game mechanics" but Misdirection being able to last indefinitely and being abused as such goes far beyond.

Comment by Jrswish

this is not true plagueborers have global combat and after he would feint death the mobs would just go to the rest of the group

Comment by Shadowfiend92

I mean, usings exploits for money, that seems a bit much

And this is what ignorance looks like.

Comment by Morrvahria

They didn't use MD. They used the mechanic created in Legion in order to stop a bug that would happen with people being in permanent combat. The snap was used throughout BfA without people calling that cheating. Not sure how Blizzard is going to fix this snap, but I have a feeling they are going to do it now. This was a clever use of snap mechanics, not much more then that.

Fragnance was streaming. You can it see it happen very clearly in there. As they run down the slope after first boss area, he casts MD and cancels it instantly.

Plagueborers doing a lot of damage and mobs snapping are game mechanics that are intended. Infinite duration MD definitely is not and that should be very obvious to anyone playing the game. The strategy does not work without the bug, another team tried it. They have banned players for exploiting for less than this.

Echo should definitely be disqualified. It creates a very bad precedent otherwise.

Read the article next time. Better yet, watch Fragnance's vod.

Comment by Theliahh

The snap isn't the issue. The misdirect bug is. It was proven by multiple people that this snapping is impossible to pull off without the misdirect bug.

Comment by MarkElf

Hunters in the great push? Good one! Everyone loves their DH/Mage/Boomie + venth/necro/kyr flex too much to run a hunter. Makes it impossible to get into +20s w/o pushing your own key or running w a team. I guess it doesn't even matter as they'll hot fix this in a day anyway.

Edit: oh $%^&, they were actually used for once in a high key.

Oh you're right, the wowhead writers just made an article with no reason. Maybe watch the tournament or read the article before you make your ignorance and potted-plant level IQ known to the world.

Comment by PeachTime

They said about 200 times that Plagueborer Snapping is allowed, so yeah, no one was stopping people from using that mechanic. If Blizzard were against it, they would've said so from the start, but they didn't, so stop being overdramatic.

Comment by Freerunz

Wowhead just decribed how it works and you still posting this stupid comment about "global combat" which is fake?
