"Enemy Infiltration" was almost certainly written tens of thousands of years ago. It references the Titan Pantheon pre-destruction and notably excludes any mention of the Burning Legion, saying instead that they're infiltrating the realm of Disorder and consuming fel energy to do so. That makes it plain that this was well before Dreadlords were recognized as demons.With that in mind, how could it possibly be that Lothraxion had already "infiltrated" the forces of the Light? He wasn't converted until relatively recently - certainly not until well after the Burning Legion had been established.
What makes you even think that Lothraxion was converted "recently"?He's been with the Army of the Light for god knows how long. He wasn't converted in Legion.Even then, time is different in both the Shadowlands and in the Twisting Nether.It's pretty clear Blizzard references literally the only Light-Dreadlord we know of.
Maybe initially he was a dreadlord spy in the cosmos working for Sire Denathrius, but at some point he will be shown to be an independent agent...kind of similar to what might have happened with Elune and the Titans.
I totally agree with SPF18, especially since the journal in question is in the middle of the Ember Ward, an area deserted since the Naaru destroyed everything with the Light. The diary must date from when the Nathrezims were still in Revendreth, working for Denathrius... and the spy is certainly the one that was discovered by the Light, which led to the attack on the Naarus on Revendreth, and later the exile of the Nathrezims.As Lothraxion wasn't a spy sent to infiltrate the Light army, he was just supposed to capture Void creatures for the Legion, he is certainly not the one mentioned in the journal.

I agree with others above that the timing seems off for Lothraxion to be the spy. Also “he was evil all along!” is the most boring way imaginable to spin his story. That a nathrezim could be redeemed by the Light and change sides is way way more interesting. It brings up questions about the nature of nathrezim apart from Denathrius and, at the time, gave validity to Xera’s belief that she could “lightforge” Illidan. Far more interesting and lore impacting than him being a spy. If that’s Blizzard’s intent it’s just lazy and disappointing.

Can’t remember which quest line was it but back when I was Venthyr, it is said that Danny (let’s just call him that instead) play around with demonic magic and horrid creature had came through the portal in Sinfall. Maybe these dreadlords isn’t even created by him but him as another puppet by another higher being. Imagine if the book was written before time of burning legion, and the leaders in shadowland is equavalent to titan (consider that elune is winter queen’s sister), and Danny boy was said to only start meddling with the demonic magic recently (<10k years at least), it is hard to believe these dreadlords are being of new creation.It does make sense tho why lothraxion could be with the light, because it doesn’t conflict with their ultimate goal, which seems to be watched by beings higher than light and void.I think dread lords would be main stories going forward as we explore more about light and void in near future.
As much as I like many aspects of the lore - such as the ordering of reality with a balance of magical forces and the lensing affect that can have on people and groups - I'm really tired of the endless backward-written generally-unplayable elements of lore that often include tiresome ^&*! pulled from nowhere because whatever.A dreadlord forced into being lightforged could be interesting but I don't find Loth to be that, and his design is a lazy recolour for a concept that would be best served with a more elaborate re-design.I wish it was economically viable for them to just totally re-write the series, making many more eras playable and actually allowing many long-ignored groups to matter at all. But it is product after all.
