World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic has a release date, it has a prepatch date, and it has.. a cost. Digital delux editions, toys, boosts, store mounts, clone services... if you want it to TBC Classic can cost you just plenty. Plenty of people are very upset, and some are even asking if Blizz has ruined TBC before it even begins. Let's look at the complaints and get to the bottom of why Blizzard's monetization threatens the very soul of a Classic expansion.

They are priced like that as a deterrent. They don't want people to use those services, in fact they'd make FAR more money if they priced it lower, as far more would willing throw minimal amounts at it for multiple characters without a second thought. Thing is they don't want classic servers to be filled with pointless copies of characters that are only gonna be touched once in a blue moon as they are forced to open more and more servers to give place for the clones only for them all to turn into ghosttowns and then being forced to solve that to actually give people who want to play classic still a community. They are giving up increased profits from the cloning in exchange for giving a better overall Classic experience and far less trouble down the line.

The rest I don't care much about, the bundle is priced like the bundle would be expected to be priced, while the boost is priced similarly with the intention of not wanting people to use it(heck if this was about greed, BE and Draenei could use it)

Blizzards main mistake was announcing this so close to the launch and all at once. If they spread it out more it would have let cooler heads prevail.Comment by Arkeez

Blizzard - Damn, Well, I guess we can't let that 1 person feel left out, guess the price would be $35 then, set it up!

What I am most worried about is the massive list of 'Known Issues' going into the beta, in which they already said most of those would be worked on AFTER the launch...that bothers me.Comment by GlocktharBoosts, In Game Store, and micro transactions only exist in an ecosystem where they are effective.
