Blizzard Confirms Dispels Can be Resisted in Classic WoW

Khlause:Could be that there was a built in chance to resist dispel we did not know about and its now working correctly?

It is possible for dispels to be resisted or fail, particularly if the source of the dispel is significantly lower level than the spell target.

As of last night a TON of my dispels were being resisted just like this, is this intended or a bug? There no evidence that this has ever happened in 2006, even if the code suggested it was supposed to be this way the designers obviously built the game around guaranteed dispels in pve.
Look at cure and abolish diseases,
Cure disease says that it removes a disease. It should be guaranteed. Abolish on the other hand has a chance to remove a disease (and subsequent chances).
If we need hit gear for dispels then hit would be on healer gear, since we're the ones doing 60% of the dispelling.Comment by jtbdiabloI still have a screenshot of such a resist happening to me during LK25 HC. Edit: to the replies above: I don't know about vanilla, but in wotlk this was possible. Sadly.
