Chromie Time Preview - Choose an Expansion to Level Your Alts in Shadowlands

Currently there is no choice to select Battle for Azeroth with Chromie Time, but you will receive the starter quest for Battle for Azeroth once you reach level 10.

If you're not satisfied with your expansion of choice, you can always return to Chromie and select a different expansion to level on.

For expansion quests that require flying (for example, you need to fly to airships for the Pandaria questline introduction), you will be directed to a flight master NPC that will guide you there.

The icons for the expansions aren't correct in-game as of the time of this post.

Vanilla and Cataclysm Content

Martens notes that Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, in particular, may offer some unique challenges in this regard because the game’s original two continents have so many more zones than the continents that arrived with WoW‘s expansions.

“You cannot complete both continents on your way to level 50, not in a fun way, I don’t think,” Martens says. “People will be playing through the Cataclysm era versions of those zones, and we’ll use the system that we have right now where we have suggested storylines. We’ll give you the suggested storylines, and we’ll have you do X number of zones so you can get a bunch of good experiences and have some nice culmination of all that before Shadowlands.”

Illidan isn't beating the living crap out of Sargeras, he's been chilling in Pandaria all along!

Comment by ldene

love the fact they can't even get the pictures to the correct expansions, lol

Comment by burningeagles

Apparently its the panda's fault for Draenor.

Comment by wespens

I think the pictures on the bottom row might be a little wrong.

Comment by Kalameda

If they're upending the way that leveling works... I do wish that they would be able to implement a Cataclysm-era vanilla and a Classic-era vanilla, and give you the ability to choose and see those old questlines.

Yes, I know, Classic is there and you can play it, but it would still be neat to experience a version of it with all of the models that they've revamped so far.

For some reason, I don't think those images are correct for the expansions. I could be wrong though. Who knew that the Iron Horde were the ones really leading the invasion on the Broken Isles?

Comment by Yortal

It seems like some image are switched for the xpacks. Still it's nice to see that even without flying they thought out a way for us to go to where we needed.

Comment by Neryssa

For all the people mentioning the expansion icons: This is how it currently looks like in-game.

Comment by dilvesh

I think the pictures are pretty accurate.

Pandaren Demon Hunters confirmed.

I'm confused why there is a vanilla WoW Night Elf face on the BC box.
Where my draenei at?

Comment by LadyKorii

The images of the second row of expansions are exchanged XD

Comment by Aarkan

This is clearly a work in progress. They obviously must split cataclysm 1-60 and cataclysm 80-85 into separate choices.

Comment by Alcest

Apparently its the panda's fault for Draenor.

We've known that for awhile now. The pandas sucked at making a prison to hold Garrosh, he escaped, and out came AU Draenor, so yeah, it's 100% the pandas fault WoD existed.

I wonder how the Legion artifact weapon questline work. Some of them take place in old zones where you normally are able to fly. Are all of them completable without flying?

Comment by Snakeslick

Why the puns and snarky remarks regarding the seemingly easy defeat of the big bads? These expeditions are supposed to be dangerous. we dont want it to be advertised with a "Deathwing wont know what hit him!".

I suspect that by the time you'll be able to open the artifact questlines, you'll be able to fly.

That'd be so goddamn kickass

Very 'gung-'ho' the last part of each expansion (minus Legion) - wonder what discourse calculus was used to think that would entice people? Very action-themed teenage adventure to me
