Griefing is already exist in world
So when do we reset the servers IRL?
Take this, all the people that where telling me "playing WoW is useless", take this! xD
Now the bug it's called "virtual pandemic" I CAN'T-
I really don't understand some of the mindsets behind these negative comments. If someone says, 'I found studying this to be really helpful' why om earth do you feel the need to go, 'no you didn't'? It serves absolutely no purpose, and just highlights your ignorance. I don't care if you don't understand how it helped - it did and quite honestly you ought to be grateful that people care enough to take a virtual accident and make it useful in the real world. I suspect most of you aren't likely to, but please stop thinking that transmissible illnesses affect only yourself. They really don't, it's all about who you're likely to transmit to. And for God's sake, wash your hands.
And the griefing would never really happen? Yeah, then explain this: https://www.the-sun.com/news/539494/coronavirus-kentucky-patient-self-isolate-armed-guard/Intentional griefing got him a nice 24/7 guard detail. Just another way the game can be used to predict behavior out of the game.
I just posted that before I ran into your comment. I am amazed at the unmitigated stupidity of his actions. Being in the demographic this virus is targeting, it's scary that someone would intentionally be that awful to others. But, then again, it's humanity and we have a lot of history of people being awful.Stay safe, my friend.
I still think the corrupted blood should be a random event. Don't mark it on anyones calendars, don't have a set date, don't announce it, just completely random.
All I see are similarities between griefers from the Blood Plague and irl griefers with this new virus : romanians returning home from Italy are being let in or are lying when asked about their location of departure when arriving in Romania.Do they not check Passports anymore !
I think the point is that it means that real world pandemics could be mimed/modelled in a computer program and that it has help develop a deeper understanding of how infections do spread, and in doing so they can anticipate (ie look ahead) to the actual spread of disease and using these models put in place measures to help stop that spread or at least disrupt it. It was something that could easily have been overlooked but someone saw its applicability and acted up on it to the betterment of us all. Thank you for that and don't forget it was 2005 and the use of computers in epidemiology was in its infancy. re people who spread the disease by ?'griefing?: this also happened in the spread of HIV when 'straight' men had sex with other men and thought that they were protected because they were married then slept with their wives and other men thereby spreading the infection. Mystical beliefs that one is exempt (for any reason) point to the stupidity of many individuals and the lethality of such stupidity. Wash your hands (thank you nursing profession for bringing that into western medicine), cough into a hankie/tissue or your elbow making sure your mouth is covered and again wash your hands ... and wash your hands ... stressing the point here for those people who think that they don't need to wash their hands after ... well so many things, like going to the toilet, handling meat, touching money (yuck and sorry Donald Duck or was it his uncle?), touching doorhandles, elevator buttons etc, find alternatives to using your bare hands! Good luck!
So we're just going to bring up a news story from 2007 every time there is any sort of outbreak? How many times has this been reposted as "news" over the years?
I read the article.WoW is not really helping anyone fight anything. Somebody who was overly addicted to WoW did a research paper once. That's all. There is enough real-world data on pandemics that video games aren't necessary for research. Sadly.
The difference is that you see when someone is infected.
