Love this write up, Thank you!
i just hope they dont make sylvanas the illidan 2.0...i loved illidan ! i was happy when he came bk ! but i hate sylvanas.... she has killed so many good guys ! including saurfang.... she needs to die.
Hoping we get sylvanas at least as a dungeon boss, if not a raid boss.
Why then does Sylvanas say "This world is a prison and I will set us all free"?Wouldn't make sense to set stupid sheepies free just to welcome them to The Maw for dying(?).I would also like to refer to some people mentioning that Azeroth is actually a prison for our slumbering Titan world soul.
Voljin brother
I wonder if a new book is on the way, so many questions! am I the only one hoping Arthas makes an appearence :p
Haters saying this doesn't make any sense BTFO. And for all the ^&*!ers saying they want my waifu's head on a spike, Sylvanas isn't someone that can be controlled, whatever she's doing is for the betterment of azeroth
awesome write up. A couple of points...- I understand the Sylvannas hate just like I understood the Garrosh hate. We couldn't have taken him down fast enough, for my tastes, not because he was a bad character, but because the story surrounding him wasn't very compelling. but...if I take a good long look at all of the expansions, more than a few instances pop up as glaring examples of shoe-horned plot connections and completely contrived scenarios occur one after another. It felt almost like they had a string of good gaming plot ideas and then they just started drawing a line between them, filling in the cracks they could as they went. Its never been a compelling story. The overarching story has never been tremendously well thought out from beginning to end and sometimes even within the expac itself it lacks cohesion. - Cutscenes they have just about nailed down and so long as most of the plot and exposition happen somewhere outside of the cutscene, they can put together a visually satisfying climax on screen. That might be part of the problem, where they put so much work into the climaxes that the plot, char dev and build up along the way becomes a game of connect the dots and hope for the best. - As for the "mary sue" thing... I don't know. Yes, when its obviously a Mary sue character, it can defeat the immersion and make just about any story feel contrived, but I don't think that's actually whats happening here. I think they had to leave so much support story out of Sylvannas' development to keep us guessing about whats happening next. I honestly would have liked to see her take a bit more damage from the fight with Bolvar since she's a shadowy assassin character with very little experience of being a front line warrior. I would have liked to see her struggle with controlling her newfound powers at different points to strike home how unaccustomed she was to wielding such direct power. The only time you ever see her powers get the better of her is when she burns the treehouse and takes a $%^& on Org's doorstep. (so basically just the times her cool headed dead character gets all hot and bothered by others). - I'm not holding out hope for any of these predictions that make sense. Look at the Heart of Azeroth questline. When did that EVER make sense outside from a Dragon Age Inquisition style game mechanic rip? Instead of closing portals, we're hoovering planet blood magic that somehow keeps the planet from dying, even though we never actually redeposit that energy back to her and it ends up getting used anyhow to a nefarious end and..... yeah. I think we're all better off trusting in Blizzards ability to draw straight lines between plot points however they feel they need to and then just enjoying the resulting climactic cutscene that came about from all that mess. :P But that's just me :D
We will find out who the jailer when released shadowlands. I think Sylvanas's dark power from jailer.
The Jailer told Vol'jin to make Sylvanas a Warchief :O
I didn't think we heard it confirmed that voljin was rezzed by the arbitor
Damn, I really need to pay more attention to what certain characters say or what others whisper into my head. Thanks for this awesome roundup <3 I wish to learn more about Vol'jin. He was a favourite of mine and I dislike the fact that he was played! And while I'm not the biggest Sylvanas fan - never was - I wonder whether she was also played and isn't the a**hole terrible person she appears to me.
I know I'm not the only person who was seriously surprised when they said it was a completely new villain. Regardless I really wish they had done a better job of showing the power creep of Sylvanas. I feel like she was just an arcane archer a short time ago and now she can solo raid bosses.
Not sure how to feel about this as an Alliance player ...Another bad guy on the oter site. Better wipe them out?
BfA finally makes sense to me, after a year...but better now than never I guess. I really like the way the story goes and it makes me want to dive more into the lore while waiting for Shadowlands. Thanks for the post I really enjoyed reading it!
i think im with a lot of people when i say im getting a bit tired of sylvanas, however im very excited about the rest of the shadowlands stuff so ill live with it. i am glad that they are explaining a lot of her actions now though
I have a strong feeling that in the end (1-2 expansion away), Sylvanas will be the good guy, saving us from the Void and Maw.
