Once again proving that Blizzard is tone deaf in BfA. If the Sky Golem can't gain any more buffs for the player as a result of its gathering ability, why not make the Water Strider the same way? Simply make it so that Mount Equipment will not work with Water Striders, but let it maintain its water walking ability.I mean...FFS...the name WATER STRIDER literally means to stride on water. I don't have enough faces to palm. :|
Having to BUY a consumable to replace what I already have for free is not a good deal. If they want to change things up then fine, treat the Water Striders just like the Sky Golem - those mounts unaffected by equipment. Those who don't want to be "bored" by Water Striders (read don't want to do the work to earn them) won't be affected as they can buy whatever mount equipment they want to use with their mounts, including water walking. Those of us with Water Striders will also be unaffected, we get to keep what we worked for. I fail to see how that's not a win-win situation, as even those with Striders who might not be happy can buy equipment for other mounts lol.
I generally am quick to bash Blizzard's stupid decisions, but I honestly fail to see why people are upset at this, if i understood correctly everyone who already have the water strider will simply be able to add the waterwalking thing to basically any mount right? So instead of just having to use the water strider for that you'll be able to use any of your mounts, right?I actually like that pretty much, I have almost 400 mounts and this change will actually make it viable to use other mounts other than it.Criticizing Blizzard's stupidity is fine, they've been doing plenty of dumb *!@# lately, but this isn't one of them.
i dont get why people are so butthurt about this? it allows for people to use mounts other than water striders. what are people so upset for lol
I just don't get why they don't give the Water Strider the same treatment as the Sky Golem... Personally, I have no problem switching mount to run over water. I'd rather continue to have a Sky Golem for Herbalism (unless on my druid ), Water Strider for water walking (unless on my DK) then I can at least put the equipment I actually think would be useful to me, on my mounts. It's MORE annoying to have to keep switching out equipment depending on what I'm playing/doing just because of forcing the Water Strider to abide by the rules for the other mounts. An exception was made for the Sky Golem, I'm honestly surprised they didn't add a "Gathering" equipment, why no exception for this one mount that's been in the game for years? It's hard to explain, but it really takes away from my gameplay, quite frankly.
I find it strange they are nerfing water striders, well, water striding ability for equipment but letting sky golem keep its herb gathering ability with the trade off that it cant use any equipment. Why not just do the same thing to water strider
And everyone here just fuses like entitled little children...
I honestly don't see what the fuss is all about. I hate having to put one mount -- the Water Strider -- on a special keybinding for when I'm running around Nazmir or through Tiragarde Sound. I've thought more than once "hey I should be able to apply water walking to all my mounts." Now I can. It's a bonus for me.I could care less if "omg everyone else can get it with gold!111oneoneoneleven" It's an MMO. Today's grinds and hardcore achievements are tomorrow's casual farm content.
I think the biggest part part people are ignoring is that the float shoes are equipped to the character and not the individual mounts. It's also unlocked at level 100 for all your characters. Unlock it once and done, then items like the shoes are usable at level 20+.What's the issue? What Is The Issue?
I'm really confused about why people are upset about this. You get a free waterwalking upgrade, which you can then use to either CONTINUE USING THE STRIDER, or use a different mount. If you already have it, you literally lose nothing, but gain the ability to use water walking on ANY mount you have.
Just another thing that Blizzard felt like taking away for no reason.
Really is anyone on the wow even a new player that don't haves the strider? LOL
Bornakk posted again (regarding using a similar situation to the sky golem)- I will check but my person opinion from my play experience is that the water strider ability is just much stronger than the sky golem herbing. We nerfed the water strider once and if we leave it with the ability there then it’s more in the line of getting everything and less of making a choice for what you want. We want there to be a choice based on your play and interests. If herbing on the run provides too strong of a benefit then there might need to be changes there but currently I don’t think that’s the case. Not sure how he can describe the Strider ability as being OP (when not able to use other equipment) when every mount can walk on water using equipment. Blizzard logic I guess.
