Sounds like a damage control blue post.
Sounds like a damage control blue post.\r\rTo me it's more a: I am so sorry for this. I had no say in this decision. We'll do the best we can for those who stick around with us.
Heh. Translation:"Holy &*!@. We didn't think anyone cared about Heroes of the Storm so we gutted it. But then a bunch of people lost their minds at the announcement so hurry up and write up a good PR piece to make them feel better and make them spend a little more money on HOTS. Also be sure to tell them that it's TOTALLY NOT TRUE that HOTS devs are being shuffled into making mobile games! But like, don't mention mobile games, that didn't go so well for us last time."Sarcasm aside, I hope, for the sake of the people who do play HOTS, that this isn't Activision's PR people blowing smoke up their butts. Like if you're going to keep supporting the game, then make it worth the fandom's time to keep playing it. I was never super deep into it, but I was a little sad by the announcement, because it did seem like a swan song. It's the only MOBA i tolerated because the communities for the more popular ones are so goddamn toxic, and I loved being able to play recognizable Blizzard characters against each other. It was a good little "work sucked, I need to blow off some steam" game.Sidenote: it does sound to me like this dev is legit sad about it. It sucks when the empty suits at the top make marketing decisions that gut passion projects.
And you wonder why the stock keeps going down. This announcement could have been made a month or so ago. Once again LACK OF COMMUNICATION that has been going on since CATA and when Activision took control of Blizzard. If you think this is the end of shocking announcements, then you don't know Activision very well.
I'll keep playing HotS until its servers are turned off. I'm glad they will keep working on it, even if at a slower pace.
I don't play HotS but I do feel the pain and disappointment reading this
amazing game, so much wasted potential
Well, when a game loses profitability it gets the axe. I thought this would happen in 9-12 months or so but it looks like I underestimated the competition.
And you wonder why the stock keeps going down. This announcement could have been made a month or so ago. Once again LACK OF COMMUNICATION that has been going on since CATA and when Activision took control of Blizzard. If you think this is the end of shocking announcements, then you don't know Activision very well.I guess issues with Blizzards game have caused almost the entire gaming industries stocks to decline about 50%, Including CD Projekt SA, EA, Ubisoft, TTWO(Bethesda, 2k, ROCKSTAR), You can check any single one of these Companies YTD Stock tickers and find that every single one of them has taken massive hits to their value over the last few months. The Tech sector saw a major correction from a bubble and the dust still hasn't settles. Does Blizzard need to improve things? Sure. But any misstep they've made so far would not cause an adjustment like this. Beyond that, you're wrong about when Blizzard and Activision merged, which was before Wrath even came out.
This announcement could have been made a month or so ago.\r\rLess than a month ago they had a tournament streamed on Twitch which they gave out items via bits, so announcing then would've potentially lowered the amount of funds they'd make from that event.
The only MOBA I play, because its Blizzard heroes. I don't like any other.
Probably shuffling people to more crap mobile games.

Actually, I don't think they *have* any dedicated PR people. If they do, they should be fired pronto after all the recent gaffes.
Well\rI'll have to wait for Dota en w3 reforged
Developers moving on is a fact of life. We've seen plenty of big names moving on from WoW as well. The fact two major tournaments aren't coming back next year without even a hint of a replacement is, to me, more indicative that heroes is getting less focus.
It is a shame that happened. But I do hope the game will continue to drag me back into it for a few matches every day or two.\rAnd offcourse Good Luck to the remaining team!
You think you want more HotS, but you really don't.Mr. J. Allen Brack already putting his infamous words to use as President.
tl;dr - "This game isn't mobile, it's not what Activision wants, so we're taking it out behind the shed and putting a bullet in it. Don't forget to buy your Year Long Stim Pack we put on sale just before announcing this totally unplanned decision!"
All of yall not waiting for Heroes on the Go (name pending) the mobile version of Heroes of the Storm you can play on your PHONE
Just keep the good work you were doing and everything will be fine... I hope...
