Did they fix sniper in TSM? Or you must still cancel the search and buy the item?
If I need only 1-2 of any material to craft anything, it is true that I shouldn't be buying a whole 200 stack of said item, but neither there should be hundreds of the same item posted in the AH in stacks of 1. Even if you use addons for the AH, that kills their searching, making it take longer in some cases. Blizz did right, by not giving it a minimum limit to post something, as there will be people with only 1-4 of the same material to sell, those, I can understand, but when someone has 1-2-3 or more full stacks and decides to post them all in stacks of 1... Can't even think of gross words people can say about them. It is also counterproductive. Imagine you're snipping stuff with TSM, or any other addon, and you keep scrolling with the mouse's wheel, just because someone decided to post tons of stacks of 1, scrolling over, lets say, 800 items, that kills your tendons. I hope people that do that learn it and stop doing these, or else, I hope Blizz keeps the change, or even worsen it a bit more, making these people pay more for those stacks of 1, and not even sell them in the end, like it already happens.
I fear that with the deposit changes, some of those older expansion mats that are rare and in low demand, and thus have commanded a high price, may well become "orphaned crafting mats" with the deposit changes.Take khorium ore and bars, hardened adamantite bars, and titansteel, for example. They are needed in small quantities and not that often, so they sell for hundreds or a few thousand gold each. And you need to relist them constantly due to the low demand before they finally sell. For example, with the 20% deposit on an item such as these that costs, say 2000g, that's 400g per listing. You can save money by posting in larger stacks, but people don't need more than 1 or 2 at a time, so those would be unlikely to sell if they aren't listed in singles. And at 400g per listing, and since they can be reposted many times before they sell, you will more than likely actually lose gold on those items. Your could increase the price further, but with the deposits being a fixed %, that doesn't solve the problem. You could list them for a lower price, but again, that doesn't solve the problem as it isn't like they aren't selling due to the high price because it is due to the low demand, and that fixed % deposit will again exceed the return on the sale after being reposted many times. In the end, it may just be that these types of crafting mats simply won't be available on the AH at all. That would mean that for some low level items, they just don't get crafted very often, as their only source may be by having to roll an alt to create/farm the item, rely on guildies, or spend who knows how long in trade looking for someone to buy from. Furthermore, their even more limited availability can also impact the ability of people to level up older expansion profession skills. Maybe down the road they can whitelist some of these older, more expensive crafting mats to exclude them from the 20% deposit scheme, but for now, they may well end up orphaned and no longer be available via the AH.
Any chance you could create an article using other gold making addons? Not all of us use, or want to use TSM, especially with the controversy on reddit.
They definitely bungled on not making the deposit fees apply only to newer, high volume items. I haven't noticed an impact myself when it comes to deposit fees, though it has been refreshing going to the AH and not having it bogged down by thousands of single stack posts. There are still plenty of single stacks for those who only want to purchase one or two of an item, which is exactly how I anticipated it to go when the change was announced. However, I have noticed that my larger stacks of items sell much faster now than before the change was implemented. I attribute this to people being able to actually find them faster compared to before. Large stacks (100-200) I post sell within seconds of me posting them on certain items like herb and ore, which has been fantastic for my bank account. This is at an insignificant undercut as well, generally 1-5%. However, I've found that smaller stacks (50 or less of an item) sell much slower, and individual items hardly sell at all because the single item market is still too saturated by people undercutting with large amounts of single stacks. The same individuals who posted hundreds of stacks on my server are still at their business, but in less quantities now than before, which is fantastic. Maybe its because I'm not camping the AH buying and selling all day long, but the fact my auctions are selling immediately when I do post them makes me happy.
While my initial concern was that old mats specialists would eat this the most - inflation is a very real thing in our market. Just tack that 20% onto the asking price. If the AH change is going to reduce the number of Old Mat suppliers then the price correspondingly will correct itself.
The issue is putting hundreds upon hundreds of basic mats, its not because of the rare ones. It's because there was a ridiculous amount of Tidespray Linen and similar mats in stacks of 1.
Fascinating. That word best describes the changes of the microeconomics currently going on in the game. On the server I played on, the price of low level ores, (copper, tin, iron) has jumped by 400% since the new regulation was enforced, but other items such as cloth and herbs are relatively the same in price. It would be great if Blizzard finally acknowledged that the AH system is outdated, and better yet, actually make changes that were suggested years ago by various players. The two suggestions that I like are being able to not see auctions from certain players, and preventing a player to post more than 100 to 200 stacks of 1. (per account) I am hoping this issue gets resolved by December, because I foresee this ruining the annual screw people over with overpriced small eggs festival.
TFW the economy weekly wrap up is just links to youtube videos you've already seen. then someone quotes your post and you never go back to notice or reply to it. PepeHands
They need to do a market for tradeskill supplies seperate from the AH. You would be able to post an item or items with your asking price (which you can change as needed. Things arent listed in stacks at all, just available as pools to pull from. You can add to your pool with no hassle, whether you are adding 1 or hundreds at a time. Someone can come to the market and say "I want to buy 300 of X ore at up to 27g each" and they will recieve 300 (or however many there are at 27g or less, if less than 300) ore for the prices listed. No listings to go thru. no one knowing who they are buying from, or who is buying from them. It should also have the ability to place a buy order for things that are not available at that time, or not available at that price at that time. Using the same as above, Person posts the buy order for 300 of x ore at up to 27g each, and checks the "leave a buy order if not available". The money is taken from the buyer. only 170 are available. a buy order remains for 130, and as people post ore at or under the 27g it fills the order, sending the money directly to the seller. The buyer will get a mail once the order is completed, and they can pick up the order and any remaining gold then. or they can manually check in on it and pick up whatever is available at that time, leaving the rest of the buy order in place. This would make things easier for both buyers and sellers. (and when things are easier for buyers, sellers sell more goods)
I still believe they need to implement both buy and sell orders like most other games.
Pretty much anything you might want to buy from previous expansions is going to be more costly now. Toys, pets, mounts, transmog. People won't post old content mats anymore because if it doesn't sell the first time you post it, you've now lost 20% of the value of the item, which means the people who craft these things now have to farm their own materials. Some won't bother doing this, and simply won't take part in that niche market anymore, while others will jack up their prices to compensate for their time farming things they didn't have to farm before.Personal example from just yesterday - I saw that my alchemist could make a profit creating Primal Might... then realized it's a crafting mat that sells *very slowly* and decided it was too risky with the new deposit.I absolutely agree the 500 single stacks was irritating in the extreme and something needed to be done, if not to prevent people posting them, then to make the AH collapse all the single stack auctions into one listing so it doesn't take up 22 pages. But this was a very bad way to handle that problem, and it's going to negatively affect many aspects of the game from transmog to collecting to who knows what.
Diannikawell I agree with the first part but the second part that let players set buy order gonna make some problems because there is many players with a lot of money like me and they can buy nearly unlimited amount of specific material and it will prevent others to be able to buy them, there must be some limits to it at least, and another point in making money in AH is to know when to go check the AH to buy the mat u need with a better price. and also knowing who u buy items from or selling them to is also a important thing,as a buyer u make find a person who sells a lot of materials that u buy so u will try to contact them and start a trade relation with them and it will benefit both of u because u can buy them at a better price and a and they can earn more money for selling cuz there is no action cut. but I like the total Idea and blizz can make it real with some changes and I think it will help the game!
I am enjoying TSM4 for the most part and deeply appreciate all the work that folks have put into it. I haven't learned everything yet, but I do find it more usable, over all, than TSM3 was. The only thing I miss, and I miss it very, very much, is the ability to easily post as an undercut on any given item, regardless of whether the thing I'm undercutting is above or below market. Fingers crossed that this will be implemented at some point. Again, thanks for your work.
From what I noticed, there was a period of about 12 hours after the deposit changes went live where it seemed to be working, but we're back to the single stacks already. I checked three or four different materials from skinning that I had full stacks of to auction, and they were all up to more than a thousand listings, with the bulk of those being stacks of one. I want to throttle every single person who does that. B(
