I can't imagine anyone taking advantage of this bug and NOT knowing it was an exploit. Being able to repeat the same WQ over and over is clearly not intended behavior - people who did it should AT THE VERY LEAST have all of their gains removed (if possible), or if not possible, significant bans (2 weeks, a month, permanent etc). Hard to say what should happen without knowing what percentage of the player base took advantage - if 5% took advantage sweeping bans are a big impact on Blizzard's bottom line, which I'm sure they consider. Interested to see what they will do here.
Finally people who exploit get some action taken against them instead of getting rewarded for doing something obviously wrong. Hopefully this is the end of this, where the rest who didn't take advantage get shafted and those who exploited it get ahead and rewarded for cheating.
Imo they deserve a lengthy ban, depending on how much the people actually abused it. Blizzard just needs to makes sure that the people, that did the WQ once, and moved on without realizing that it was bugged / exploitable, don't get any action taken against them.
Your opinion means squat. If blizzard has a hole in their crap allowing people to keep doing quests over and over it is a they problem. THEY should take responsibility for their crapping coding and not blame those who use what was given to them. I found myself doing a few quests a couple times simply because it was still there for me to do. One of the problems with the world we live in today is to not accept responsibility for screwing up and instead pass the blame to someone else.
"Unlike the cooking spices exploit that simply allowed people to powerlevel cooking"Exploit? Vendors sold the ingredient
So by your account, if a technical fault with your bank caused you to be credited significant amounts of money you should be able to spend it with no consequences?I hope you get banned. ;)
Thank god they confirmed they're taking action. First off anyone that using it was doing so with the INTENTION of cheating. There's no way someone just randomly found this out. Main reason im excited for them taking action is i've done every WQ each day since launch for 7th Legion except the PvP quests and 2 days of WQ when i couldn't play, and i JUST hit 13k/21k for exalted. Grinding for almost a solid 2 weeks and people just glitch it in a day.
What is the "cooking spices" exploit? This is not the fish oil vendor, is it?
A Permanent ban would be fitting as an exploit like this can screw up an expansion.@kharonThrallI don't think you understand how contradictive you sound. Blizz fixed their end of it. Bugs happen. What do you do when you encounter a bug? Report it so it can be fixed. Users that don't report it and exploit it for their own personal gains, which is against the TOS, mind you, are to be held responsible for their actions. Their actions in deciding their own personal gain was worth more than the rules very clearly outlined. Every action has a consequence, good or bad. In this case? You exploit a game breaking, expansion screw-over bug? You'll get smacked for it (Hopefully permabanned). Those who exploit need to face the consequences of their actions....or as it were....take responsibility for their actions.
I seriously can't believe Blizzard is to blame when someone finds an exploitable bug and, instead of reporting it (LIKE ANY SANE PERSON WOULD DO), they abuse it. That's cheating, no questions asked. It happens it games, it happens in real life. No excuses.I mean, it's okay IMO if you find a bug and try to reproduce it (so that more information can be given when you report the bug) as long as you report it afterwards. If you don't, you're cheating. Now, since it's already fixed... how was this exploit like? I'm curious as to how it was missed during PTR phase.
Maybe if they made content more interesting people wouldn’t exploit to get around doing it.
As a casual player here, I still don't really know the full storyline or all of the new features and quests and factions and stuff added in BFA, so I have to say that had I found this WQ bug it is entirely possible that I might have repeated a quest once, maybe twice at most before realizing that something is probably wrong.Blizz is C R A P at documenting and explaining all of the features of the game (instead relying on external websites to do their job), so who am I to be able to tell if it's a feature or a bug? In fact, it would have been boring to me to do the same thing over and over, just like going out to collect bear asses over and over, so I wouldn't have done it more than once or twice. As it stands I'm still only level 114 so this didn't affect me as far as I know. Can I even do WQ at lvl 114? But the point is that players are not in the best position to know if something is a bug or not, and only the really bad abusers, say more than three times per WQ, should be punished IMO.
