Very well done
A really great read and I love the inclusion of the Xal'atath quotes as well :)
Beautiful read as always! :D
It/they, not his. Old gods do not have a gender.Anyway, I really liked this Warbringer. N'zoth played into Azshara's wants and got exactly what it wanted out of her. Even the "tantrum" seems to be just N'zoth making her think she can upset a god. But in reality she just agreed to the deal that the old god wanted.
While yes, in the end, Azshara accepted N'zoth bargain.I think she did outsmarted him in a way.Everyone that surrenders to the service of the void/Old god becomes a mindless or fanatic servant. If what i believe is correct, Azshara avoided that part while receiving N'zoth power."What difference it makes? she serves him nonetheless"I heard you say.She servers N'zoth but she is not "bound" or slaved to him, that means, she can betray him or ditch him when she believes to be powerfull enough to overthrown him, afterall, N'zoth is still imprisioned.Kinda like the current ebon blade with the Lich King. They serve/work with him because its beneficial, not because they are bound to him. Now, even if its true, that doesn't mean Azshara can or will be able to betray him, lets remember that this is the lady that wanted to marry Sargeras.Just a thought.
This Queen be Removed
There's a shot in the cinematic that didn't get mentioned and I'm curious on your take. When her barrier breaks, we get a closeup shot of Azshara's face as the water starts rushing by her and it is eerily similar to a shot from Warbringers: Sylvanas during the flashback to her banshee conversion. It's likely just a coincidence or stylistic similarity, but I thought it was interesting. Also note that Sylvanas' eyes turn red during her conversion, not the blue of Arthas/Frostmourne, and very similar to the red of transformed Azshara/ the Naga Court. Thanks for the fantastic write-up, I've really enjoyed the Warbringers series and reading today's post.
Why do people put so much stock into the insane ramblings of a talking tree tumor?Anyway, N'Zoth got what he wanted from Azshara, indulging her inflated ego was a very simple way to get her to do exactly what he intended.
So what the hell makes any implication that what Azshara sees is Ny'alotha? I've seen nothing to indicate that it's Ny'alotha. It's the Black Empire (as a previous poster pointed out) as seen in the Chronicles. Stop spreading these rumors as facts, damnit D:<
As for eyes, there is an interesting tidbit. There are seven distinct eyes that coalesce into the two of the fish. You have to pause it at just the right moment to catch it.
My guess is that the Fleets will clash above where Ny'alotha is. Then N'zoth attacks everyone with his servants and it is then that we realize another Old God has awakened.ofc then we save the day by the powers of love, forgiveness and friendship
"A man (or woman) chooses, a slave obeys." Kept hearing this quote while watching the cinematic. Great video!
Azshara was betrayed by Sargeras which let her fall into N'zoth's ... tentacles. What if during the Azshara raid, the fight leads to N'zoth's release, and rather than defeating Azshara, N'zoth strips her of her power turning her back into a Night Elf and leaving her to the mercy of the players? Realizing she's been abandoned again, she begs for her life so one day she can rebuild. Can't be a queen if she's dead, a lesson she likely learned while drowning. She also must know the armies of Azeroth won't hesitate to kill her so maybe she'd be less likely to play games while making a deal.Once N'zoth's free, what use is Azshara to him? And if things are coming full circle, Azshara being abandoned again makes sense. It's possible as well that due to Azshara now being abandoned a second time, she could forge a deal with the Alliance and/or Horde (Horde makes most since since Blizzard said they're a bunch of outcasts) to have her people join them if they continue to let her live as their queen.Blizzard did say not all allied races will come out in pairs. Naga could potentially be released with the Azshara raid or in the following patch for a single faction with the unlock requiring defeating Azshara in the raid and then completing a short quest chain that maybe helps restore some of their naga abilities rather than just making them Night Elves again. It'd be a different unlock rather than a rep grind. It'd unlock a race many have been clamoring for for years. And reverting them back to Night Elves but tweaked appearances such as maybe maintaining some fins or increased swim speed while retaining two legs would solve the mount and even boot problem. Effectively, I'm saying make playable nagas a more Night Elf version of the Jinyu. One thing that does irk me about the Azshara cinematic, though, is her crown floating up. Unless that thing is very light or the waves are insanely strong (not really suggested given how calm they all seem to be falling), metal tends to sink. Would have make more sense to have her facing down and the crown slowly floats out of sight into the darkness rather than rising into the light. Having the crown rise into the light makes the scene look hopeful rather than hopeless if it had falling into the darkness instead. I almost expected her to reach out to grab it. Something else Blizzard could have done was have a tentacle or a fish give the crown back to Azshara after the deal was struck and placing it back onto her head caused her transformation followed by the crown melding to her head and becoming the 3 eyes. Then perhaps removing the crown could have become a gimmick of her raid fight to remove N'zoth's power from her. Not really my favorite cinematic. Pretty. But I liked the other two better. This one honestly needed too much outside information to really understand it.
Very well written. I have two personal opinions about this cinematic though:1) N'Zoth didn't tried to give her death experiences rather she was trying to feel the transformations as it started slowly (with lesser pains), maybe internally.2) She's arrogant as hell. N'Zoth knew that. So he agreed that without her "help", he'll indeed remain as a god of Nothing. So he agreed with Azshara's term. He didn't tricked her to believe she won the deal instead she really won the deal. Which is a "win-win" for both. Well just my personal opinions though. I could be wrong, no biggie. Great writing anyways.
