Hopefully this doesn't happen too early. I still want to raid :O
So if you dont do the quest... you keep the artifact
RIP Xal'atath\rOr hello, Xal'atath empowered by Sargeras' sword as a Battle for Azeroth raid boss.
So if you dont do the quest... you keep the artifact\r\rBlizzard presumably has a contingency plan for that, but... yeah. It's a weird call that a quest reward is losing 15 weapon ilvls and two years of AP traits.
Question: are artifact traits disabled when a character completes that quest, or when whichever patch goes live?
Question: are artifact traits disabled when a character completes that quest, or when whichever patch goes live?\r\rAs of right now, characters created on the PTR already log in with their weapons disabled.
So if you dont do the quest... you keep the artifact\r\rThey'll probably be all turned off when BfA comes live, but yeah I'll hold off on doing this for as long as I can.
Mmm, i don't really see any benefit to finish that quest, at least until BfA goes live :)Why would anyone volunteer to destroy their weapon unless they forced to do so, so what am I missing?P.S. Nevermind, after refreshing the page saw Neryssa explanation :). Damn, wish it was just a quest :)
So once BfA is live, can we just skip the quest and keep the 15 ilevels and traits?
I know it's a small complaint, but it bugs me that all these lore figures happen to be alliance races. Unless the champions differ slightly for Alliance\/Horde players (and class)\r\rHuman - Darion, Vargoth\r\rNight Elf - Rensar, Kor'vas\r\rDraenei - Ishanah\r\rPandaren (both factions) - Ponshu
But what happens to Hati? Do any of these weapons retain the cool flavour things like that? The talking skull, staff, dagger; the hidden effects, the afk ground effects for classes like druids and DKs...can we still access them if we have our artifact equipped, or do they literally become useless junk that aren't even keepsakes of nostalgic value?

I actually attempted to transfer my character to Horde on the PTR and never got the quest to retire our artifacts there :( \r\rI would imagine Horde also gets some Horde-themed characters to accompany them. I will try to find out and update the post ASAP!
What total and utter crap of an ending to our artifacts!

If you don't retire your weapon, the world blows up and your account gets deleted. :-P

Frost DKs get the Sindragossa ground attack as a baseline ability... BM Hunters get a 2nd pet as a baseline ability... so while you "lose" the artifact ability, if it was considered important enough to move forward with that ability in the game, it is now baked into your baseline class talents.

So lorewise Darion Morgraine wears Apocalypse. I guess they retconned his "I am glad the Lich king cose you instead of me. I am done with magical blades." line from the very start of DK campaign.

Not a human anymore. Even though ishanah is an active member of draenei society but she reacts friendly with the horde (lorewise as well). And demon hunters are more likely demon than their original race. Kor'vas is more of a demon than a Night Elf.
In the latest Q&A they stated that we will still lose our artifact powers even if we don't do the quest. The same way that people that haven't done argus see the giant sword.\r\rNow to complain about how this doesn't give any good bye to our talking weapons or Hati.
