Wow, very interesting! I love the voice acting of Lady Ashvane.
The cinematic with Greymane talking about his son is really touching
Standing on a battlefield littered with the corpses of those who died defending their home, said home burning in the distance, ominous music playing over it all. This is just DRIPPING with moral grayness, guys.
Much like on the Broken Shore where the Alliance don't see why the Horde retreat, there's likely more to the tree burning than what we see now. Maybe Sylvanas had no intention to burn the tree and it was actually the Night Elves who burnt it themselves to keep Sylvanas from taking Darnassus. Or maybe it was some other entity that burns it. Or it was purely accidental. Maybe one of Sylvanas's underlings got a little too excited and burned the tree to prove their loyalty to her. But it's Blizzard. I wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional and done by Sylvanas herself.I still suspect we'll see a redemption arc of sorts for Sylvanas which will be a lead in for the next expansion. Blizzard wouldn't be that lazy to effectively have her be another Garrosh ... or are they? History suggests they just might be that lazy.
Who are the Voice actors of Ashvane, Katherine, and Taelia?
Burn it to the ground, Stormwind is next.
But Genn's job is to oversee Stormwind Harbor.
People didn't like when AU Grom was randomly redeemed with Blizzard hand-waving, "Oh, it's okay, WoW is a perfect world where people forgive each other." No one bought that.Plus Blizzard does really poor redemption stories.
Sylvanas standing there was pretty awkward. Like, that could've ended a few seconds after we saw the tree burning, but nope; stare at her unnecessarily-censored body for like 20 seconds! At least this one was tagged properly as WIP, since it was definitely not finished. Those flame effects looked pretty dated compared to what the team is capable of.Ashvane's betrayal also has a flaw in that she expected unstable magic rocks to kill Katherine, but that bullet would've easily killed the old lady instantly. As expected of a generic pudgy female villain like Ursula from Little Mermaid; the meat is in her body, not her brains. She's a fun villain mind you, but the fact that she's a fun villain also means she's a terrible one as a result. You just can't balance fun and good on a villain like this, no matter what. It might've worked if she was more threatening, but the cinematic using corny machinima animation techniques ruined it. A good design for a villain, but sadly not a good execution. This leads me to the next one.Genn talking with Katherine is a dreadful reminder that trying to push a narrative with the goofy expressions that the ingame models have is an absolutely stupid idea, as the emotion is lost with the silly faces they make when talking. They've proven themselves capable of doing AMAZING cinematics with cinematic models that are almost 1:1 with the game models (if not direct use of them), such as in the cinematic Anduin got that turned him into a man on the Broken Shore. They've shown they have the ability to do so, but they just don't? It's horrible to know they have the talent, but they don't use it as often. More cinematics like that would be amazing, especially for these story bits considering that there's a much better narrative going on in this expansion for both factions. Instead, we've got dated machinima cinematics. I sure hope that we see proper cinematics later on.Only issue I have with the Mag'har is that they get a cinematic when other BETTER allied races don't; that's just unfair, though I'm sure they'd be lazy ones that just show off customization and the forgettable leaders for a few seconds. Can't wait to see the Dark Iron one. Surely, the cinematic team behind the amazing work we got with some of the other cinematics is still around. Let those guys do the sweet cinematics, not the machinima guys.
