Just to point out to the writer of this post (not sure if it's of interest to them or not) but the line, "In order to help them better situate themselves in a world of Azeroth fighting together against the Burning Legion" sounds out of place, with the current content and direction of the upcoming xpac. Just a little note, that's all. Can be interpreted as a 'currently fighting the Burning Legion' approach rather than where we currently are at, which is having already defeated the Burning Legion.I may have interpreted that wrong myself though.

The trick is... never leave! Welcome to the Hotel California....
"fighting together against the Burning Legion"... again... but we beat them permanently this time!
With Battle for Azeroth looming around the corner, there are many old players that get motivated to play World of Warcraft again\r\rAre there though? Are there really?\r\rI mean, I'm sure we'll get the usual new expac cyclical returns, but I can't imagine there's many people who quit in vanilla who are suddenly going to come back now.
Pretty sure these vanilla guys know everything about it.

Leaving one out would be weird...and starting from the beginning seems like a good place.
Wow this is perfect! I know a few people that really want to come back and quit around burning crusade. This would be most helpful!

They didn't say why, but they seem to be more interested in the world itself so probably the prospect of seeing these places like Zandalar and Kul Tiras fully realised in-game was enough to pique their interest. Announcing Classic could have boosted their goodwill w\/ Blizz as well.
This is in preparation for everyone who returns for classic only to find out that nostalgia is a helluva drug and they want something from this decade.
Right, Northrend is the home of the Lich King?\r\rOG LK: Ner'zhul, from Shadowmoon Valley, Draenor\r\r2nd LK: Arthas, from Capital City, Lordaeron\r\r3rd LK: Bolvar, from somewhere in Stormwind\r\rEven the twisted soul of Ner'zhul caged in a giant suit of armor was forged somewhere in the twisting nether, then sent through a portal to Northrend.
Make an option for old animations :(
I've got a guildie who just returned to WoW after playing in Classic. He had quit the game when his son was born. And now he came back to the game because his son is playing.
What a wonderful guide! This will help so many people who want to come back, or have just resubbed, but are feeling pretty lost and overwhelmed with all the changes (there have been many!). Well done!
Great idea here. I look forward to reading these even though I\u2019ve never left. Should have a bunch of good stuff to read for everyone.
People who played vanilla are going to have no issues. The game holds your hand with catch up mechanics and no threat combat. If they played vanilla they'll be fine.
Was this article sponsored\/inspired by Blizzard?\rI mean not to be rude, but how many people are still returning from Vanilla? And as other posters have mentioned, I'd wage the few returning Vanilla players will be fine.

If something was directly sponsored and paid for by Blizzard, we would need to disclose so for legal reasons in the article. We thought this would be a nice series of articles since Legion is winding down, and this first one has good traffic so we'll likely launch the TBC version next week.
How many people quit in Vanilla that would be coming back to the game now?
