No doubts that I'm really excited for this project but I'm afraid that people have too many expectations. You can't replicate the whole experience and feelings that were closely related with classic WoW thirteen years ago. It will definitely be different, nevertheless fingers are crossed, I hope the developers will get the best out of possibilities. :-)
I'm really curious to know Scrab lords and Magic brooms would come back to us or not.
Well,If I get to obtain the old school mounts or the black quiraji tank on the classic servers, maybe i'll considere Rolling there.Overall it doesn't bothers me to level up,but before buffs, the leveling process would break at random points and you were forced to grind mobs or dungeons over and over. And that wasn't too great. On the other hand,Fel reaver-like welcome mobs(the worgen on duskwood for example) are always priceless and fun to find.
I don't believe it's hard to make everyone happy when it comes to Classic WoW servers. The group wanting Vanilla exactly as it was and the group that wants to play with enhanced Legion-quality graphics can both be made happy without forcing one to play the others' desired version. Kronos private server proves this to be 100% possible. I don't advocate private servers and only experimented with new graphics on them to prove it can be done effortlessly. The difference is an option toggled on or off. Blizzard would simply need to add a patch-#.MPQ with new models for everything in the world, not just player models, and whenever the option to see them is toggled on, the game would load enhanced versions of pretty much everything in game from players to npcs to mounts and even buildings from the modern models database in said .MPQ file (references to all the Legion-quality DB entries for all in-game objects shared with Classic?) and whenever it's toggled off, it would default to the original pure vanilla graphics.Another incentive to keep the same group that wants enhanced graphics and possibly even the vanila-only hardcore purists "I wont touch anything but pure vanilla" group wanting to play both versions of the game would be to give achievements unlocking cosmetic rewards on current wow whenever a player earns or achieves something challenging to get/do in Classic wow WITHOUT touching Classic wow. In other words, the crazy elitists who have absolutely no life and don't care about the enjoyment of seeing their favorite game with new visuals won't be forced to play a modified game and those who want changes won't be forced to play the ugly looking World of Warcraft. I personally don't want any play-ability changes, and am just asking for updated visuals WITHOUT forcing them on everyone.I believe that if Blizzard doesn't do this, all the new players who are just getting to know of WoW's existence (the kids still in their early teens) won't be attracted to it at all and it will eventually die out.
Nostalgia tinted glasses will be shattered - hard.
Pretty excited to know how WoW was back in the day, and feel the same experience, good or bad, as people who actually played at that time, since I wasn't.
I never got to try out Vanilla WoW, but I am looking forward to experiencing it for the first time. It might be jarring, now that I am used to the current state of things, but hopefully it is more than just nostalgia that makes it memorable.
I am going to have a bunch of toons on this servers and I am going to play them in my free time when I am bored of retail. I hope that they release all of the content in patches and not all at once, will make the game feel more genuine and just like Vanilla WoW. I hope it is a carbon copy of Vanilla WoW and they do everything similar/don't change much!
I just thought about something. Is J. Allen Brack the one trying to kill Chromie for bringing back Classic? ;o
I was also excited to see that some of the unofficial developers are putting their money where their mouths are, and have vowed to shut down their private servers. This was never about playing free WoW, it was always about bringing back the classic game.
I think you're very wrong. People will realize how awful Vanilla is after a month or so and return back to the polished nice game that we have today.
Have questions or wan't to answer something about vanilla classic? wowclassicpoll.com
Would like to see Classic only with features that time provided. Less server so there will be a big community on that server. And - would be awesome - every patch comes single.
DARK NIGHTS! And a mandatory lantern in off-hand at night time :D Woohoo!
I personally want the full Classic experience. That's what we whined for, give it to us so we can hate ourselves for it. With that said, I would like the vanilla content to be rolled out naturally, as it was. Once Naxx is released, so few will see it anyway, and those who do will always have the days-at-a-time AVs to fall on for fun.
I'd post this on the World of Warcraft forums but I don't currently have a subscription.Things I'd like to see in WoW Classic:1. Weapon skills2. Old Talent Trees3. Upgraded Graphics4. Continuous flight paths5. Old Alterac Valley (with a honor system tweak?)6. Updated mailing system7. Improved buffs8. Improved Spell learn (automatically updating the UI when a higher rank is learned)9. Dual SpecsThings I don't want to see:1. Flying mounts2. LFG System3. Transmogrification
I just hope that characters will be able to be transferred to Burning Crusade Classic server when it comes out, I'd just wait for that because the game was much more bearable and all of the Classic content was still accessible unlike Wrath of the Lich King
