I loved how this story line really set up so many new possibilities and mystery.\rWhen Alleria's shadow form was datamined I assumed it was as a boss or enemy and not that she's in full control.
As a long time WoW player who loves the lore of this silly little game we share with eachother, I loved the story for shadows of Argus. Alleria embracing\/controlling the void, Illidan's one liner as he killed Xe'ra. Good Stuff; i do hope that they stop the weekly story stuff. I personally don't like it and would rather binge the story.
I think this storyline was the best of Argus, it really helped understand the Void and Alleria's point of view. Also Mac'Aree is a really beautiful zone, especially with all the echos of draeneis.
I've enjoyed them showcasing the void as an allie for once, a weapon that can be wielded like the light. I feel like it shows us the other side of the 'light vs void' conflict we've been missing, especially when you consider how Xe'ra acted over Alleria using the void. She reacted horribly considering Alleria used the void to SAVE people in the audio dramas which means that glowing chandelier would have preferred people dying than being saved by something she doesn't like. I've always been a bit suspicious of the Naru so this definitely confirmed what I've thought since BC, that there's more to the light and the Naru than what we saw.
I loved this patch story, the implications of the void and light not being what we knew...\rAlso, I don't want to give MY precious bow back (?)
Nobbel87's sarcasm at the end there were glorious.
i just love that there is a balance between Light and Shadow and that both Light and Shadow have their goods and bads, looking forward to see more of what Alleria would become in future patches\/expansion.
loved the storyline, cant wait to see how it gets resolved in the raid
I liked seeing that the light isn't as good as we thought and the void (while still causes you to go insane) isn't always bad. It's interesting to see things from the void's perspective, like how the light is corrupting species and worlds. I would like to see how the other Windrunner sisters react to Alleria's void form and magic too.
The Three Part Audio Drama and then this! What a lot of great information to digest today. Looking forward to a time when they dig into the details of the Naaru's Light and Dark states.
I like how when showing both light and shadow are flawed it's for different reasons. Like Locus-Walker said in the audio novel, "The Light follows one path calls all others lies, the shadow tries to follow all paths and holds them all true". This could make Elune a figure of balance since, whatever she is, she is a being of light but one that thrives best in the darkness.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the 7.3 quests. The story was fantastic and I'm hoping they'll continue to work up the light\/void conflict in an upcoming expansion. (Please don't kill off any more main characters Blizz!) My only beef is that the story ended too soon. Three weeks of content and now we get to wait 8 weeks until the raid. \r\rAlso, do you think that the Story Design team just decided to switch directions here? After reading the Illadin book before Legion launch, this story is certainly NOT what I expected to happen.
... the weekly questInvasion Onslaught. This awards 250Veiled Argunite...\r\rIt's actually 200...
As others have discussed, it is interesting to see the light portrayed as less-than-benevolent, and the void\/shadow as not inherently evil; we got some flavor of this in Warlords with the Adherents of Rukhmar and the Arrakoa Outcasts. I hope the growing emphasis on the light-void axis doesn't detract from the diverse tapestry of other powers (life\/nature, elemental forces, arcane, etc). Still many questions regarding the nature of Elune's existence, and where she falls within the light\/void and natural\/arcane spectrum.
Illidan's rejection of the gift actually made me think higher of his character (I was not a fan of him before). I also liked the appearance of the Ethereals, love those guys. Locus Walker is a very interesting character, hope we will see him and learn about him more.
Been curious about the Ethereals role in this story line can't wait for more lore to unfold. Illidan standing up to Xe'ra like that made me enjoy his character even more so now.
For the most part, I really enjoyed the Shadows of Argus questline and I really hope Blizzard continues down this line of writing. The audio dramas were excellent, the cinematics were beautiful and compelling, and the general setup of Argus felt very intriguing. It feels like they're making room for what comes next, after the Legion is defeated and all of Azeroth's heroes return home to rebuild. My only gripe is that some of the details laid out in the Chronicle book, like the death of the Titans and the origin of the Legion's demons, seem to be retconned. I can't help but wonder if there's some extra reasoning out there that would explain both of those changes.\r\rI think, most of all, I really like how Velen's character was more fleshed out on his journey to Argus. He seems to be listening to Illidan, in some ways, occasionally straying from the path that the Light has set for him. I'm really curious to see where he goes after Antorus.
I really like how they preserved the wow storyline with this, and kind of opened up MCU phase 2 (or 3 or 4, w\/e).\r\rThe Legion was the biggest bad for the longest time, but giving them motivations tied to something else? Damn. There are bigger bads. And they're scary.\r\rI do wish they would address a few of the odd little inconsistencies, but they're minor compared to the overall feel and tone.
The Shadow of Argus has been a rather interesting story line both as a player in the game and as a lore nerd myself. It opens up new possibilitys about the void that we didn't really know before about how people wield it such as shadow priests that hasn't been touched on my many if any good characters, only evil ones such as Benadictus in Cata. (And even that was sparse). It's been a refreshing story with engagement constatly with the Argus characters. A step up from the Broken Shore I felt, and even that was entertaining.
Actually what intrigued me recently is the story of the conservatory of the arcane. Why was Archmage Y'meera expelled \/ exiled? Is she related to the demons roaming the area with somewhat similar names (Y'beda, Y'morna, Y'sorna - they're winged demonic female eredar). Since Archimonde was there, obviously something of demonic nature transpired. Did Y'meera leave before the denizens of conservatory turned to the burning legion or was it because of it? \r\rTo be honest, I'd like to see more story of "the army of the light" in the in-game quests rather than have it put into external sources (like voice novels).
