thanks
I think my biggest mistake would probably be trying to sell a brand new pet that was worth about 100k. The buyout price was about that much, but i didnt realize that i didnt set a bid price for around the same amount, so the bid price was 96 silver. Someone bought it.
Sold a Vial of the Sands for 100g instead of 100k before. Oops!
My biggest mistake (or maybe not so much of a mistake depends how you look at it) is buying reins of poseidus during cata for 100k because I was swapping servers and wanted to transfer money (back then gold cap for transfers was much lower), I tried to resell it for these 100k on the new server for many many months and it wasn't selling at all. In the end I thought "well anyone will be able to solo this rare after cata ends, it won't hold much value, I might as well add it to my own mount collection", and I learnt it. Ofc I didn't expect that with abundant CRZ later on the value won't be in "being able to solo a mob" but rather in being able to find him at all. And also I didn't expect that the mount itself would swim as slow as the sea turtle (which I had since wotlk), from the description I expected it to swim super fast like the horse in vash'ir, and I got sorely disappointed. So I lost twice, first the value of the mount rose after Cata, and second I'm not even using it after learning it. The only good part is that I got +1 to my mount collection for a price way cheaper than it goes now.
Back in the early days of the WoW AH mobile app (circa 2012), I installed it to keep up with my auctions while on vacation (how sweet was that!). Before leaving town, I had scooped up one of the rare Cat Carriers (I think it was the black cat) for about 9k, when it regularly sold for about 20k gold (yay me). While on vacation I accidentally listed it for 1999k, instead of 19999k, and someone bought it immediately. I knew something was wrong, so I looked more carefully, and realized what I had done, to my horror. I then de-listed my auctions, and deleted the app, and I've never used it since. I don't want to trust myself with such a costly mistake, and now, if I'm on vacation, I take that time to take a break from the game :D.
These guides are definitely useful, thanks for making them! I just wish I had the time to constantly troll the AH for deals, or spend hours listing actions for the sole purpose of making money... I've been crafting a legendary item a week, (it takes about that long to farm enough nethershards and the 100 cloth needed to craft the item) and I've been selling it on the AH for 100k-150k a pop... that on top of questing and missions has me doing well enough off on gold...
I don't know about this Proving Grounds nerf. They must've done it only on the Garrison one, because I used the PG from one NPC on my Rogue's Order Hall and it worked as normal, get in/out, no problem at all.Try looking for the NPC on your Class Order Hall.
I'm enjoying these new posts - broadening out the expertise and knowledge of the experts to the wider wow community via Wowhead. I also liked the links to other players with their own youtube posts etc. Keep up the good work! Hope Wowhead also do these for collectors soon as well - there are thousands of people like me who spend a lot of their time collecting transmog, toys, pets, recipes etc - and all of the trials and tribulations this involves!
I'm an old guy and as such I'm not always that careful about what I'm doing. I had the scroll set up on TSM to buy stuff and once when I was thinking I was scrolling down the page instead I bought an item for 17500g. Luckily it was worth about that and I was able to sell it for a small loss, but I turned off the scrolling purchases after that.
Making money selling transmogs is always dependent on the server you play.. higher the pop, better chances to make good gold and sell fast. The low pop servers I play on, you couldn't sell them even if you attached a million gold with every purchase.
WoD garrisons were gold printing machines for everyone, I'm surprised it took them so long to nerf it. I had expected a nerf long before it actually happened. I never bothered much with it, didn't stimulate my mind enough so I just ignored it.Thanks for the primal sargerite custom price. It's possible I stole it and put it on my pastebin. Thanks for saving me the trouble of whipping it up.I've made plenty of mistakes but I just learn from them and move on. Sometimes I anticipate things and I'm wrong, other times blizz will change something at the last minute and I'm left raging. Sometimes I wonder if blizz intentionally changes things last minute to mess with us goblins hahaha.Been enjoying all the articles Gumdrops, keep em coming.
While being sleepy putting a legendary crafted item to AH for 136g instead of 136.000g. Gone in 10 secs. New rule is never use AH while sleeping...
It's strange for me to see someone call a garrison "optimized" and not mention a barn. Especially when just trapping wolves for a half hour or so once a month and collecting every three days will generate ~180 savage blood and 3960 (not quite 20 stacks) of fur a month if you have a skinner (Goldmane is by far the easiest to get). That's 9k in blood and 3960 x YMMV (12-16k for me). Add in that every time I hit 1000 resources through cache accumulation and missions (5+ times a month) I purchase a rush order for the barn for a quick hit of 110 cloth and 5 blood, and that 23k avg goes closer to 28k.My tailors conservatively generate 45k a month just between barn-gotten blood, cloth and bags on that schedule.
