You don't need the quest to obtain the required items. There is absolutely no reason to go back and get the quest immediately. They can wait until after the raid - and it'll convert the essences into quest items when the quest is obtained. Comment by l2pwncomputers @WarcraftDevs Is it intended that Writhing Essences don't roll over when handing in the quest? I just handed it in at 55 and now have 0. This is exactly the reason you need to go back and pick up the new quest. So you don't waste any essences. Comment by Dymundslingr unless they have more than 1 legendary they want to upgrade. Waiting until after the raid when you finish your 50 at boss #2 can be 7 more bosses at up to 7 per boss. that is another 42 essences you would miss out on. Except what he's actually referring to is that if you have more than 50 Withering Essences when you turn in the quest, it will consume *all of them*. This means that the optimum way to do it is to go back and turn it in every single time you reach 50 essences, any more above that and you're wasting essences \/ boss kills. Yep, it's retarded, I was at 49 essences after Harjatan, killed Misstress, quest complete, back to Dalaran, poof, next quest 0\/50, I'm 100% sure Misstress dropped more than 1 but any overflow is lost. If I continued to kill further bosses without swapping the quest, all the essences from them would go straight to the bin.

Was it so hard Blizzard to make this a currency? Goddamn Illidan souls were a currency not a quest item.

They could make it like curious coins that you just go to a vendor and exchange for the item instead of making it a quest.

EDIT: Just checked their Twitter. Tons of people suggested sensible solutions and analogies, playerbase smarter than the devs I swear... They put examples of TBC rep turn in quests (Ogre beads), Class Hall quests to turn 10 bloods, Khadgar quest to turn 2500 Nethershards, leather scraps that you click and turn into leather (existed in Cata and MOP and maybe few other expansions), vendor exchange same as mine suggested above, legendary components from MOP and WOD, literally tons and tons of ideas, all better than Blizzard's. If you did any mythic+ instances last week, you got 20 in the chest on tuesday. Comment by Jevnaker what wings are they talking about? Comment by ED209 what wings are they talking about?

That said, rofl @ doing it four times. It's a fun scenario and all, but I got my timelord title and am just popping in to do the research now and will probably finish it once on my main. The xmog sets are just so uninspired and pointless that even the completionist in me couldn't care less about getting them :P

The legendary upgrade quest is something I'm really really hoping they reconsider. At this point, I've got around 8-9 legendaries on the main and about another 20+ across my alts. I'm not grinding that out. I still have 910s on alts because I didn't like the system originally :P

Oh well, time to check out all the DLC I've ignored with XCom2 Long War instead, lol :D

There's a very fine line between optional and mandatory when something is rewarding. And if it isn't rewarding, people won't do it more than once. I.e. suramar story. Comment by Jevnaker what wings are they talking about?\r

I'll speak only on the first. I will always and forever struggle with the concept of a multiclass (ie can be tank\/dps or heals\/dps or all 3) - so I include myself in this because I fill all three roles when needed. But it is certainly a frustration to see the disparity between a pure DPS (that'd be hunter) versus something that can fill a lot of roles. And I know people I dungeon crawl feel the same. 'Hey I'm Havoc DH but queued as tank so I'm just going to tank that as DPS' DRIVES me INSANE. If I wanted to tank something - which I usually end up doing .. I'd have sat in my short little tank queue. If I just want to relax and not stress as much about the party as a whole I want to go DPS. Instead we kick the idiot half way through - I tank a quarter of it and a tank pops in at the end.\r

So very true. Only ever did suramar fully once. The only other times I did any of it was when professions required it. I wanted to work on getting all the stuff behind class mounts, and doing it so passively now on 8 of the classes via missions. It's pretty crazy that they want concordance for so many classes\/specs though :( On top of that everything else has turned into a giant casino, which is never fun.
