That's odd, my comment asking if more perks will be added for this cost was deleted. I wonder how that happened Wowhead? Why would that be?

I'm happy to sub but if you get a bit more as I don't have a disposable income. They're not making it easy for themselves if they really did delete it.

The sooner that information is known the sooner I'd likely sub. I'm sure others would be in the same boat. Love the site but IRL money is sparse :-\/.
We're looking into adding perks on other ZAM Network sites like Lolking. We did add a lot of perks over the original Wowhead Premium--the Bag Scanner tool, special forum colors, images on tooltips to name a few. The image perk is a good example--it would be prohibitively expensive for us to do so for free, but having Patron accounts lets us offer this feature to our users.
I'd sign if we got promotional beta invites.
I'd sign if we got promotional beta invites. This is something we can't guarantee on our end--we constantly pester Blizzard for keys but they have finite amounts and we wouldn't be able to cover everyone who is a Patron :( Blizzard would probably panic too if we made such a demand on them for every game.
I wish sites would price subscriptions more reasonably. Netflix is $8\/month and it streams unlimited HD video! The value proposition is difficult to stomach. \r\rI understand why so many sites choose to price this way. The vast majority of people won't pay anything no matter what, and of the tiny fraction that will pay, most of those don't care about the difference between $1 and $5\/month. But I do.
Ask Mr Robot is $12 per year. I would happily pay that much to Wowhead but not $60.
From the article: Subscribing to Wowhead is only $4.99 per month or $29.99 if you pay for a year. It works out to about $2.50 monthly if you pay for a year.
Ask Mr Robot is $12 per year. I would happily pay that much to Wowhead but not $60.\r\rI'm subbed to AMR because the price works out. Anything $15 a year or less I'm happy to pay for. If it makes my time outside of WoW easier than I'm all for it. I highly doubt my visits alone to Wowhead make them even $15 year from ad revenue, let alone $30, so even a "cheaper than $30\/y" would be profitable for them.
Facebook generates $5.18 in advertising revenue per user per year. I'd be surprised if Zam sites produced 10% of that. That's what I was getting at in my post; these subscription fees really aren't about "paying your way". They're priced assuming 99%+ of users won't subscribe. And they're almost certainly right!
If you wanted a stampede of new subscribers you should have offered a premium-only landing page with just the search box :D
I've always thought a lower priced option which ONLY gets rid of the ads would be useful. I'd happily pay \u00a310 a year for adfree Wowhead, but the current price is just too high for me; I'm not rich, so I have to look carefully at how much I spend on things which can be done entirely for free, albeit in a manner which does not help the site. I'd like to help the site, but at a lower price. The rest of the perks don't interest me in the slightest, so a slimmed-down budget option would be ideal for me.
I check this site everyday I wake up still breathing, it's an amazing site, clean organized and easy to read even with ads. But $5 a month, is just a little excessive. $20 - $30 year, or $60 a life time and I'm sold! I've never even registered to this site until I saw this post. Love the site, always have. Best of luck with your subs wowhead, seriously.
The yearly sub option is $29.99--it's savings over the monthly amount. It seems a few people missed that in our announcement who would be cool with $30 vs $60, so I went back and made it red bold :)

I'm trying to sign up for Patron but all the links do is redirect to my Zam profile.Edit: I found a working link using the Zam account menu dropdown.Edit2: That upgraded me to Zam premium, but I still see the Upgrade Available links all over Wowhead.Edit3: Got it all figured out. I hadn't unified my WH and Zam accounts. I'm a Wowhead Patron now. WOO!
Existing Wowhead Premium members automatically become Subscribers and payment will not be affected. So if I was already a patron it means that the new subscription is free for life? No payment per mont\/year?
