Blizzard needs to move all keys above 15 to a tournament realm, same with mythic raids. No pugging, everyone groups in discord or has guilds/friend groups.Make the in-game maximum difficulty on par with FFXIV. Tough but not frustrating. The toxicity would cease, all of the annoying negative metachaser content creators would quit or just talk about the tournament realms, either way they will stop polluting the space with their BS, articles like this would stop (healing is fun af until you get to high keys or mythic raids). Keep all of the good new stuff, like dragonriding and QoL, but eliminate the marginal extremes that make everyone unbearably toxic. It trickles down to the rest of the community and someone who just gets KSM every season doesn't need to sit there and listen to people who play the game for 14 hours a day explain that actually healing is horrible because you get one-shot in +27s.
The little bit of goodwill bought by the talent tree is starting to wear off and I think people are realizing that this expansion really isn't as fun as they were originally misled to believe.I don't even know if healing will be salvageable for this expansion. And with so few people interested in playing the role, it's going to make everything much more challenging as you try to form groups to play.
A spikey damage profile also:1) Promotes a meta - why play Druid, shaman or priest when you can play evoker and just top everyone to 100% HP with one button (several times). Or why play a class with more limited spot healing in m+ keys and get frustrated that you often can’t top people fast enough and wipe pointlessly.2) Makes healing about sniping. Gone are the days of coordinating healing CDs. Now everyone always has a CD available so you’re just assigning one of your many CDs/ramps to each damage spike and trying to snipe the top-up to 100%. Healing used to be a team player/coordinating role in raid - you all worked together. Why bother anymore when everyone always has a cooldown available? A healers skill measure now is can they snipe the heal fast enough. That doesn’t feel rewarding.3) Filling downtime between spikes isn’t satisfying since they nerfed healer damage. Doing your best DPS rotation now just feels like forcing yourself to kill time before you start setting up your next ramp. Doesn’t feel rewarding or impactful to the fight at all whether you DPS or not now.
The biggest problem in keys is that healers can only handle 20% of the mechanics, but are punished by like 80% of them. There needs to be a LOT more mechanics that punish the DPS or the tank when failed, so that the healer isn't the one suffering for their teammate's mistakes.DPS are 60% of the comp. 60% of the mechanics should punish DPS - through CC, healing the mobs, shields on the mobs, damage down, etc. Even one-shots from failed mechanics are punishment for the DPS rather than the healerBut so many of the mechanics this season just do more damage over time to people when failed and make the healer's life a misery. In the very highest keys a healer is doing 60k HPS overall. Most healers in 16-19 keys are doing as much or more just to compensate for the number of failed mechanics.
Subjective title, i found it mostly very challenging and fun
Healing is fun. It just aint fun when you have trash players in the group that don't give an F about mechanics or don't even know mechanics. Simple.People want a challenge mode without challenges. Well we play mythic plus as a way to get gear up both dungeons and weekly vault. How many 1% players actually are pro keys not having timers or not get depleted?
I enjoy healing in general, raiding, pvp, M+...it's been great this expansion. I think there is a very big difference between a bad healer just being bad, and a good healer just getting unlucky. Damage is spikey yes, but if you don't know how to react to save a situation and which CD's should be used, then of course people are going to have trouble...it doesn't take a 4k IQ to understand that "this ability doing AoE damage" will affect the group and you should prepare for that.As someone who has gotten KSM 3 seasons in a row after returning to WoW at the end of SL's, as well as KSH: season 2, i have enjoyed the grind fully as a healer. there will always be challenges in content, but this has not been a bad experience.
Healing last season wasn't that bad at all... this season has been brutal, BH is the worst ever m+ I would rather do Oculus as a m+ dungeon than BH. There are other dungeons this season that aren't fun or enjoyable, but BH is the most hated in my opinion.
op in pvp not op in pve blizz balance 101
I may just be deep into copium now- but at this point I'd just love a spot healing QoL buff. Make it so that every single healer has a mechanic like Rdruids regrowth- Casting your fast heal onto a target gives a 4 second buff, where casting the heal again on the same target is increased by x% (and increased crit chance just like regrowth, why not). Make it stack 2x if that better, but imo casting 3x heals into a ST should be topping them. By far and away what feels bad is single target spot healing. Yes there are tons of tools to deal with group wide ticking damage, but there are tons of mechanics that just TRUCK either single people, or multiple people WAY to hard to deal with. Its just pathetic how weak ST heals are, and the problem is greatly exacerbated in M+ where you don't have other healers AoE healing stacking up to top people. I truly believe healers would be way happier if 3 heals on a target was all but guaranteed to top them, and they could ensure that person could survive through whatever dumbly over tuned dot is on them so long as they can keep casting their heal.
I like Theun but he is a big ole doomer.
