Warcraft Logs Creating Augmentation Evoker In-Game Damage Meter

Warcraft Logs
has teased a new damage meter overlay that will support Augmentation Evoker contribution!
In-game damage meters such as Details do not attribute Augmentation Evoker contribution back to the Augvoker. This can make it difficult to tell how much an Augmentation Evoker is contributing during a raid or dungeon until after the activity and you upload logs.
Warcraft Logs has teased a new damage meter overlay that will update in real time allowing you to see exactly how much an Evoker is doing in the moment! This will be good for streamers as well, so players can see in real time how much the Aug is contributing.
It will be available as part of both the WCL Uploader and the Overwolf Companion.

If this is an overlay, this is definitively not allowed by WoW's EULA.
Au Contraire, Blizzard apparently loves them some Overwolf and doesn't seem to prohibit it at all. (Overwolf owns Curseforge, has for a while.)
Right at the time Overwolf bought Curseforge, Blizzard modified WoW so that you can just /reload to see new addons you've added. This allows the Overwolf "functionality" (which really is to provide ads) of letting you install addons and then activate them without having to exit out of WoW and launch it again. Extremely convenient. almost as though Blizzard were tacitly endorsing Overwolf.
If you can't tell, I loathe Overwolf with the passion of a thousand burning suns (they're proud of displaying unskippable video ads over the top of Hearthstone, though I don't know if they still do that) and would sooner throw my PC in the trash than load their software on it.
("If you're so smart, what should happen instead!" Okay: Microsoft is buying ActiKingBlizzWhatever, and Microsoft owns Github. All addons should be uploaded to Github and then someone can easily (EASILY) write a client that simply runs "git clone" and then "git pull" on each. There could be a single Github project run by volunteers that acts as a directory of available addons. Github already has a Star system to denote popularity, etc.)
You're right - it shouldn't be allowed, and doesn't appear to be allowed, yet it is in fact and in practice very much allowed. :(

yay now we can yell at augments for dong #$%^e dmg thx warcraftlogs.......
๐ข FURTHER CLARIFICATIONS:
๐ This will be available in both our clients (the Uploader and the Companion)
๐ You need to be logging in-game, **you do not need to be livelogging/uploading to the site**
๐ Will be available both as 2nd screen experience or as an in-game overlay
Great that it will be available in the uploader! Yes! :) Great job! Do more of this!
Shame on warcraftlogs for working with Overwolf though. Shame! Don't do any of this. :(

Right at the time Overwolf bought Curseforge, Blizzard modified WoW so that you can just /reload to see new addons you've added.
That functionality was added
over six years ago
, more than
three years before
Overwolf bought Curseforge. They simply improved the functionality to include .toc updates with the launch of Shadowlands, which coincidentally is exactly the kind of change you'd expect to see in an expansion-level update.
It also has absolutely nothing to do with overlays or whether they're allowed within WoW, which they absolutely are, so long as they do not read memory or otherwise interact with normally inaccessible game data.

DH are not balanced around providing the buff to a specific number of people the way Augvoker are.
Citation needed.
Sure thing
, bolded for your convenience.
Interview with Ion Hazzikostas
Augmentation has some brand new log hooks allowing the damage to be allocated back to the Evoker. Are there any plans to implement these for spells like Windfury Totem, Chaos Brand, or Power Infusion?
Not currently. Part of the key difference with Augmentation is those other examples you gave are not specs or classes that are balanced around that contribution.
They are tuned independently and that is just a perk.
If you have Mystic Touch, you might have multiple sources in a group and attribution becomes tricky then. It's not quite apples to apples in terms of the comparison. We understood that for Augmentation Evoker, both from a parsing perspective and trying to have clarity of who is playing the best at the high end, but also from a broader community perspective of just understanding what the Augmentation Evoker is contributing to the group, and being to break that out and quantify it was going to be important. Whereas with a Demon Hunter, you know what they're contributing to the group
and then Chaos Brand is a perk on top of that
, it's not quite the same. We'll see how this goes and having some of these hooks in place, we work with Warcraft Logs on them and it may be something we explore more in the future, but nothing else at this point.
