Wtf happened to her feet
So this is really not Merithra on the DF art picture, but Ysera after all. Makes me very sad. Poor Merithra - seems she will have to leave her developing position of leadership again and go back to insignificance. Just like her rather "common" night elf model suggests. :(
I was really hopeful that maybe that datamined stuff about Ysera was a red herring planted by blizzard but sadly more and more is coming out that makes it seem like this is not the case. It just seems really stupid to do what the datamined stuff said. The ‘cost’ doesn’t make sense because that would make a certain someone pretty angry and basically turn their backs on the dragons and do whatever they could to return that certain someone to the world again….unless they go into the shadowlands and are brought back as a wild god THEN I might be happy. Having them ascend to a higher being and truely connect to the world and the dream. I might be satisfied with that
Merithra is getting relegated back to being the " daughter " once again, Ysera should STAY in the Shadowlands, other characters need time to shine they cannot keep falling back on old established characters like Ysera, it's creative bankruptcy at it's finest.
As usual, devs not making Unique models for important npcs... ok, maybe she specifically doesn't need one, despite being the daughter of an aspect, but what about the aspect sisters?
Hopefully that model is temporary and she is the one on the loading screen and she just changes upon being declared the aspect. I know they physically don't change but this idea helps me cope with the fact that Merithra will probably be sidelined in favor of Ysera.
Is that DF main loading screen? Beta still has that wildhammer dwarf driven on gryphon. Least Kalecgos finally got uptated model since cata and has no more pixeled blank face why it took thus long to remodel him?
Man if Malfurion gets removed from the picture somehow, then illidan will set a speed record slipping into Tyrande’s DM’s.
Merithra needs a unique model ten times as regal an majestic as Ysera's. The generic look is way too outdated.
This is once again a case of "I prefer the loading screen over the in-game model."
That armor outfit looks like some mish-mash xmog someone threw together in a few mins.
Maybe it's just the way it was phrased, or the way we know how the Shadowlands works, but I never figured the 'exchange' to be particularly permanent or painful. Rather, that because the Winter Queen had invested so much of her own personal anima to renew/save Ysera, that thus Ardenweald's stability and function relied on said green dragon staying in Ardenweald. That means, at least until the Winter Queen recovers fully/Ysera pays off her 'debt' of anima, that she can't leave, at least not in good conscience. However, Malfurion, being a similar soul of great connection to nature, could step in to shoulder this debt, They could physically live in Ardenweald while Ysera went back to being the Green Aspect. This would let her come back to Azeroth and complete unresolved issues (fully pass the mantle of Aspect to Melithra, bid farewell to Alexstrasza, etc.) before eventually returning to the Shadowlands and thus letting the other go back to Azeroth. This would effectively put her in a 'box', similar to Illidan's situation, until Blizzard decides they want to use her again.Additionally, this solution would also sidestep the issue of The Embrace (from Twilight of the Aspects and occurring every 430 years) being required to appoint a new Aspect, thus reducing retcons needed. This is because there would be a willing transfer of power from Ysera to Melithra, rather than Malygos who held the title and intent until his death. There becomes an issue with the Black Dragonflight and Deathwing, but tying together older lore with the new lore does provide a solution- It's the Oathstones as physical representations of the Aspect's commitment. Establish that these break when Aspects willingly betray their purpose and take several hundred years or so to recharge (say, around 430 years) before new Aspects can be chosen. Thus The Embrace becomes a visual marker for appointing new Aspects, but isn't required for the ceremony to happen. And since Neltharion betrayed his purpose thousands of years ago, the Black Dragonflight is fine to appoint a new Aspect as well.As for why separate the conditions for appointing new Aspects depending on whether the previous one had died or just betrayed their purpose? Call it a Titan Keeper precaution, since dragons are near immortal and dragonflights can function just fine without an Aspect, a simple 400 or so years to confirm whether a new heir apparent is worthy would be safe. The Blues just needed a new Aspect immediately to help with the Cataclysm and Deathwing, and since the Embrace was happening at the same time it was providence/a sign to do so.
Think this means that Meritha will have a big effect on NEs as they rebuild and reclaim their former glory...Pretty nice to have your own dragon in your back pocket...
