Upcoming Mythic+ Season 4 Tuning - Nerfs to Zul'gamux, Grimrail Depot, Iron Docks and Karazhan

Greetings!We appreciate all the feedback on the Season 4 Mythic+ dungeons that has been made thus far. We’ve made the following adjustments that will be in effect with scheduled weekly maintenance (starting tomorrow, August 9 in this region):Dungeons and Raids

Affixes

Shrouded

Zul’gamux now casts Blood Barrier less often.
Zul’gamux has found a new location to hide in Return to Karazhan: Upper.

Grimrail Depot

Grom’kar Far Seer’s Storm Shield can now be purged.
Grom’kar Cinderseer will no longer cast Lava Wreath.
Railmaster Rocketspark

Borka the Brute’s Mad Dash damage reduced by 30%.

Skylord Tovra

Thunderous Breath initial damage reduced by 25%.

Iron Docks

Fleshrender Nok’gar

Dreadfang’s Shredding Swipes should no longer hit players multiple times.

Oshir

Feeding Frenzy now requires Oshir to suffer 5% damage to be interrupted (was 8%).

Skulloc

Skulloc’s melee damage reduced by 15%.
Koramar will no longer cast Shattering Blade.

Return to Karazhan: Lower

Ghostly Philanthropist will no longer cast Throw Coin.
Gang Ruffian’s Poisonous Shank damage reduced by 30%.
The Opera Hall: Wikket

Winged Assistant health reduced by 30%.

Moroes

Moroes’ Garrote duration reduced to 1 minute (was permanent).
Moroes’ Dinner Party effect now increases the damage and attack speed of nearby dinner guests by 50% (was 100%).

Return to Karazhan: Upper

Flame Wreath damage reduced by 30%.

- Piercing Missiles damage reduced by 30% and no longer increases damage taken
- Inferno Bolt damage reduced by 30% and no longer applies dot
- Frostbite damage reduced by 30% and now has 15 sec cooldown
- Flame Wreath damage reduced by 80%
- Ceaseless Winter damage reduced by 20%
- Guardian's Image health and damage reduced by 30%

Viz'aduum
- Disintegrate range and damage reduced by 30%, no longer knocks players back
- Chaotic Shadows now spawns 50% less orbs when expires or dispelled

Maiden of Virtue
- Holy Bulwark absorb reduced by 30%
- Sacred Ground damage reduced by 30%

Attumen the Huntsman
- Intangible Presence it is now possible to correctly see who to dispel without needing addon or WA

Moroes
- Will Breaker range and damage reduced by 75% - Pretty wasteful of a change considering that would completely negate the purpose of the mechanic. The change to visibility was enough to make it noticeable and able to move accordingly.

Curator
- Volatile Energy health and damage (Arc Lightning, Static Charge) reduced by 30% - Health may became an issue at higher key levels, but it is easy enough to keep up with the health and damage of the mob itself at a +15 (as required for KSM)
- Power Discharge damage reduced by 30% - Don't stand in swirly. It's ok to be punished for making a mistake.
- Summon Volatile Energy now cast 50% less often - Refer to previous statement regarding volatile energy.

Medivh
- Piercing Missiles damage reduced by 30% and no longer increases damage taken - Not opposed to a damage nerf, but this spell was the only spell that felt impactful to me when I tanked the key on a 15 so maybe just plan cooldowns accordingly.
- Inferno Bolt damage reduced by 30% and no longer applies dot - I might be mistaken here, but I vaguely remember using movement abilities (such as blink, disengage, divine steed, and angelic feather) to move out of the projectile of Inferno Bolt back in Legion. I assume that this has not changed. It does provide an interesting opportunity for determining what is most important to kick.
- Frostbite damage reduced by 30% and now has 15 sec cooldown - Similar argument to above in that it provides an interesting opportunity for determining what is most important to kick (although I don't really see a reason why you would choose not to kick this unless the person is using an immunity such as bubble, ice block, turtle, and likely AMS as well)
- Flame Wreath damage reduced by 80% - This completely negates the lethality of the ability imo. I agree that a damage nerf needed to be done (as Blizz did), but there's very little chance of the ability actually causing problems if it just doesn't do damage at all.
- Ceaseless Winter damage reduced by 20% - Annoying mechanic for range, but manageable. I wasn't a fan on my Priest, but I could get a cast off, move, cast off, move, and so on.
- Guardian's Image health and damage reduced by 30% - Damage is pretty spicy here (and you're definitely rewarded for having as many kicks as possible) so I'm not against a damage nerf. This will likely be much easier to handle when we all have more gear later in the season (which is likely when most people will be acquiring KSM anyways).

Viz'aduum
- Disintegrate range and damage reduced by 30%, no longer knocks players back - It has a long cast, is pretty noticeable which direction the boss is moving in, and provides easy punishment for an unaware player. I think the mechanic is appropriate.
- Chaotic Shadows now spawns 50% less orbs when expires or dispelled - Just spread. It's kind of annoying having to deal with the orbs, but I feel like I generally see people die to the damage of the dot (maybe nerf that if they're set on nerfing the ability) or people moving as the debuff is dispelled or falls off and then moving into one of their own orbs.

Maiden of Virtue
- Holy Bulwark absorb reduced by 30% - Ehh. Only done a couple lowers and the absorb feels alright for the most part now at a 15.
- Sacred Ground damage reduced by 30% - I'll be honest and say that I've yet to take dot damage from this because I just AMS the mass repentance on my DK. There are some ways around this (such as timing a shadow word: death right before the mass repentance cast ends to cause the damage taken from death to break the repentance).

Attumen the Huntsman
- Intangible Presence it is now possible to correctly see who to dispel without needing addon or WA - It can be challenging to see at times, but it is possible to see the ghost. If they want to increase visibility then maybe an animation similar (but not identical due to tier) to the shadow that appears for a shadow priest due to their tier set.
- Spectral Charge damage reduced by 30% - Just dodge it. Depending on where the boss is tanked, the range can basically stand max range and ignore the mechanic.
- Mezair damage reduced by 30% - Just dodge it. Having the tank position Attumen close to Midnight after each charge does help in moving out of the cone with enough time to be safe (and even still attack the boss).
- Shared Suffering damage reduced by 50% - The ability definitely trucks, but it didn't feel unlivable on my DK. I did use AMS for one and IBF for another as Frost (where only myself and the tank soaked it). Using other major defensives here would also make it easier. Proper planning and what not.

Trash
- Wrathguard Flamebringer no longer resets aggro, teleports to random places, evade or get stuck in terrain - The aggro can be rather annoying at times. The evade generally happens to people that are not in the room itself (so someone standing on either of the edges of the room without jumping down).
- Erudite Slayer Mighty Swing knock back effect removed - One of the easiest ways that I have found to deal with this (aside from skipping the entire bridge right there) is to just take a couple steps back (as in up the bridge) whenever the ability is happening. I've noticed that, whenever I do this, the swing does not actually connect and knock me anywhere at all.
- Fel Bomb damage reduced by 50% - Again an easy way around this is to just skip the mob, but sharing the soaks does help a lot. Just because it has to be soaked does not always mean that 1 person should be taking all the damage. The tank is also a great help in dealing with this since they can take the damage fine. Gear and health will also help more with this.Comment by UlsakiI dunno why people are having a go at the person who suggested Kara nerfs, the dungeon is overtuned by about 5 levels. It's not a mechanics thing, it's the amount of damage.

I've seen it across the player base, with good players who know their stuff. Timing other dungeons 17-18, but Kara is 11-12.

There are some outliers that do utterly insane damage for the key level as well.

Dungeons are designed to be approximately equal difficulty. A +15 Kara shouldn't be outputting as much damage as say a +20 Gambit, that's a balancing failure. There's a difference between "get good" and the levels not being in sync.

Those do tons of damage and a nerf to them are not completely un warranted. either nerf its damage or let them be cc'd by frost traps, sheeps, hexs, fears, and stuns to alleviate it.Comment by QprahThe only major oversight I can see with these changes is possibly the Absorb Shield on Maiden in Lower Kara purely because some classes/specs dont seem to be able to dump that much damage that quickly and feeling it necessary to have curse of tongues or mind numbing poison on her just to give them enough time feels a bit silly.
However it may just be a gear/skill issue that will fix itself in a few weeks.

I dont even know if I like the nerfs/removal of certain mechanics here. I think I'd prefer if they were made more telegraphed so they could be more easily reacted to. Final boss of Grimrail's breath attack is a big culprit of this. The damage isnt awful and could easily stay the same if there was any kind of warning what parts of the floor are going to be hit and which parts will be safe.
A nerf to damage or buff to visibility was absolutely necessary, its just a shame they chose this option instead of the other.

I really think for the next time Quaking comes around they need to make one or both of the following changes:

Quaking activates on each party member on its own timer, rarely having more than 2-3 triggering at the same time.
Quaking does not activate(or does not do damage/interupt; whichever is easier to implement) while out of combat.

Between Grimrail, Workshop, Upper and Lower Karazhan there seems to be a lot more tight hallways this season and it is a lot more noticeable how annoying Quaking can be in small spaces.

Regardless of all of that, these changes should bring the WoD and Legion M+ dungeons into line with how much easier the BfA and SL dungeons are currently.
