The Weekly ResetTaliesin and Evitel

World of Warcraft Shadowlands is now officially playing the waiting game. Waiting for patch 9.1.5, waiting for news of 9.2 and the conclusion of the expansion. There are updates on the PTR, like Legion Mythic+ tuning and Nightborn's new glowy hands customizations, but most talk this week has once again centered around the perceived censoring and removing of adult or offensive content. But who is offended? Why are the changes being made? It seems we finally have the truth....

Just end it already.
Push out 9.1.5, then put 9.2 on the PTR.
Release 9.2 and but WoW on life support like you did with WoD.
Then give us a good expansion similar to Legion.
Because apparently you need more time to make good expansions, atleast more time then the suits think you need.
And for the future, "just" take more time, its fine having to wait longer if the end result is great.

Yeah sure, flat out racist...ya know about Trolls, the fictional race, who practice voodoo magic. Totally racist, in the minds of those who view a certain race that way when they think about voodoo. Blizzard is a garbage company, in more than one way. But hey yeah constant racial war and genocide...A-OK! AMIRITE? pffffttt Bunch of modern day puritan cultists I say.

If Troll jokes are racist, then Trolls are a racist stereotype and not only need to be censored, but the ENTIRE WAY THEY SPEAK AND ALL VOICE LINES NEED TO BE REMOVED FOR INSULTING JAMAICANS! see how it works? good. bye.

My main issue is that this is happening NOW instead of 10.0. Now, when we're waiting for 9.1.5 which will solve a lot of issues about leveling and how we experience the end-game content like Korthia, covenants, etc. Right now, right this moment, I don't care about all the innuendos dating from years and years ago or the Incubus model (even though I main a warlock!), and my little heart can't take any more cr@p from all the Activision-Blizzard sexual-abuse drama-mill. Just make the game work better, finish this expansion once and for all, let us go home to Azeroth and THEN remove the innuendos and do all the Incubi models you want.
Priorities Blizzard, please.

Some of you are in a bubble if you think the "playerbase" hates these minor changes. If you want these cringey jokes to stay, maybe you're the problem.

I think it was a good video.

Mate no normal person cares abut these jokes. Average players and normal people just want the game to be good and fun. The game is trash and the game is literally bleeding thousands of players daily. Look around yourself for 1 moment and notice this is the darkest time line, judging from the player activity, these times are even somehow worst than WoD.

Nobody cares about some F--ing jokes, If you really do care you have a mental problem my dude. I avoid people like you and many do.

Wake the F up, this is the real world. I think you are the one living in a bubble.

Dog im not sure but its wildly insensitive to the people who lived through the trauma of "living the dream" while being sexually harassed and assaulted, lol. theyve said on multiple multiple multiple occasions that this is more for them than it is for us (which Talliesin even goes over in the video!)

racism understander has entered the chat.

/g sorry that you cannot fathom that there is racism in a game that was originally made 15 years ago, its honestly not that surprising

I think there needs to be a whole new expectation going into 2022, my guess would be there won't even be an expansion until very late 2022, Thanksgiving at the earliest and maybe even 2023. Between the harassment suit and pandemic I don't see how they could be on track.
I can't imagine that A/B hasn't been affected by "the great resignation" like everywhere else. Look around EVERYWHERE is hiring. I'm sure a number of devs jumped ship this past year and they are scrambling trying to find people to make the game. Also, how long would it take for a new developer to start working on a 15 year old game? I don't think every single developer is some WoW superfan waiting to get hired. What I would like from Blizz is just to say to the community "hey, for those of you still around, here is the roadmap and timeline"

Wait, Ion said there is going to be a 9.3.
9.2 ain't gona be the last of this pathetic story.

I never liked or understood why you should be able to /spit on another player, and yes there was maybe one /flirt that crossed the line and one /joke that makes no sense anymore with the renaming of a city.
I've no problem with them removing references to certain people either.

But the rest are just harmless fun, and the only reason it could possibly be problematic is because WoW should have been rated M, like Diablo, rather than T. But ofc that would mean a lot less players and $$$, which is all that matter in the end.

But there are worse stuff in this game than these jokes. There are several quests where the goal of the quest is to literally torture information out of people. There's war and genocide, and while the violence isn't particularly graphic, it can still be too strong for this age rating.

To me this is just a smoke screen put up by Blizzard to try and make us forget the real issues.

What I want to hear about is that every employee is treated fairly, regardless of who they are and how they live their life, protected from any kind of harassment og receive a fair wage.
I want to hear about consequences for offenders, ranging from them offering apologies and receiving written warnings for the milder cases, to anyone crossing the line into criminal offences being arrested and sentenced pay restitution, fines and or prison time.
Including Blizzard for NOT DOING ANYTHING to put a stop to it.

Edit:
Yes we have serious problems in our society, but it is not because of a few harmless voiceline in a game, the problem is much deeper than that and this will do nothing to fix it, it might have the opposite effect in fact..

So much airtime and energy fixing cosmetic "issues" because, really, they are cosmetic and doesn't fix anything material, either in-game or in-the-Real-World.

Will it make the game more playable? NO
Does anything in this fix quality of life for players? You know the people who actually pay for this, not the investors and board of directors who profit with zero effort on their part. NO.
Does any of this address the barn full of manure that is management and the Hazmat Level IV work environment that is Activision-Blizzard? NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST!
Does some of the more cringe worthy bits need to go? Yes
Do these changes need a day by day bulletin / press release? NO.
Is Activision throwing up a honey-wagon spray to make people forget just how reprehensible management has been and the shenanigans they are still pulling to avoid going to prison and paying out real dollars? HELL YES!
Does upper management deserve some heavy-duty Karma? Heck Ya!
Will they get Karma? Magic 8-ball says "highly unlikely".

Unless the prosecutors and judges have the cojones and aren't paid off to protect AB like a certain agency was already caught doing with buried keep out of prison clauses the overpaid culprits will just laugh it off like usual as they add another exotic car to their collection.

And soon the playerbase will be 100% happy because everyone except whales and devs are leaving the game. Hooray, we fixed everything.

Sorry that you get called racist for thinking that fantasy trolls are supposed to portray real life people.

Comment by Baldyisbeast

Who cares about these emotes and jokes..Make a good game and give us content and not some recycled stuff from legion...9.1.5 is a scam which doesn't deserve any hype or praise..I'm not going to waste my time farming transmogs like the hunter one which looks like nzoth threw up on it..bleh

Comment by Alienatedflea

Blizzard is pandering and blatant about it.

No one cares about your new found wokeness. PUT OUT MORE CONTENT.

We are looking at just ONE major content patch for Shadowlands for the last YEAR! ONE!

And what are they doing it about? Literally nothing but removing things that literally NO ONE wanted removed at all.

Blizzard just doesn't care about the customer at all...either put out more content or shutter your doors.

Comment by Zsolt

I honestly dont understand why did blizzard started these changings.... What is gonna be the next step? Delete the game 'cause the trolls are figting the humans and that is racist? Talking about race, from now on I consider myself a troll IRL and gonna sue you just cause you mispresented my culture. Its a joke ofc.

Comment by ToviValdora

I might be missing something but in my eyes there's a big flaw in his point. He's saying that you don't just pick up the trash, you have to disinfect too (which means you don't only fire the employees but you clean up what they did in game) but wouldn't that mean you pretty much have to delete the game?

do you think things happen in a void? lol, its literally actually bad jokes and depictions that relate to REAL LIFE stereotypes and gen racism.

its like, imagine if they had a random black joke with the dwarves? it would be exactly the same situation. the culture of the trolls isnt the problem, its the depiction and stereotyping thats based on depictions and stereotyping of traditionally marginalized peoples.

Comment by Rahaleth

a lot of this stuff isnt for the playerbase, but for the developers. not everything is about us :/
