This retcon of Teldrassil as a World Tree is really stupid. It wasn't a World Tree, it was an attempt to recreate one. The Kaldorei were scolded horribly by the Dragons for it and they refused to bless it. It only existed for 30 years. I don't get the way they inflate Teldrassil like this, as if its destruction doesn't mean anything unless it's cosmic in some way.
So the playable Haranir are a splinter group who used to live under the shelter of Teldrassil, completely lost their life's meaning when the Horde burned it down. Now they journey to the surface to prevent something like that from happening again.And they are available to both factions? No, no it makes complete and perfect sense
Absolutely crazy how hard they avoid the actual War of Thorns, Night Elves, etc. Not once do they even allude to the fact that PEOPLE died en masse on the tree, they just cry about roots. Then they put a generic human from freaking Elwynn there instead of a NIGHT ELF for the TELDRASSIL STORY, not to mention a generic orc instead of a troll.I don’t understand why they would nod to the elephant in the room and then also refuse to address it like this. They could have made the Haranir Elun’Ahir specific like they were originally intended and avoided this whole mess.
Haranyr might be the most boring and uninteresting race they've ever added to the game. WoW storytelling has gone so down hill these past few expansions. It's so bad. Can we please fire all these awful writers and get some actual decent ones?
@wowhead did not understand it. The roots of all world trees exist in Harandar. You find roots of Teldrassil, Nordrassil and the newly planted Amirdrassil.Just by the fact that Teldrassil was burned down this does not mean that its roots disappear. When you fly up at the Teldrassil roots you also see there is a burning glow on them.
Harranir are so ugly that it makes me appreciate Dracthyr more. LMAO.
Teldrassil is stupid and it should've never existed, warcraft 3 night elf culture was centered around nordrassil, the beginning of the night elves in WoW should've been dealing witht he aftermath of the wc3 ending, teldrassil was the beginning of the massive dump blizzard writers took on the night elf race and how they went from the absolute awesome badasses they were in warcraft 3 to the nerfed mess they are in wow (grommash hellscream, THE angriest orc, called them ''perfect warriors'', and yet in wow they always freaking lose, they can't defend their sacred lands for *!@#), its been 20 years and their lore in the mmo has been !@#$ since forever, they were my favorite race growing up playing the rts and I will never forgive blizzard for bastardizing them. This haranir bs race just look like a cheap copy of the night elves, and holy &*!@ I would not be at all surprised if they retconned the dark trolls and night elf origin story into the haranir being the night elves predecessor or some lost link that went underground or something like that
Nothing what so ever mentioning it was the Horde that did it.Gotta make sure the Horde never feel bad or held accountable for their actions and are always shown as honourable beings.Just like little children on every level.
This is just a setup to bring the damn tree back. Mark my words.
So I guess the Night Elves DIDN'T need the dragon aspects to bless Teldrassil after all because THE HARANIR WERE THERE THE WHOLE TIIIIIIIIIIME!Awful writing, thanks Blizzard for firing the lorekeepers and for writing based on "democratic writing".

Jeez these comments are such a disaster. People talk all kinds of nonsense and get heated about topics they clearly know little about and more importantly don't seem to care all that much about in the first place.Is this the result of decades of unsatisfying writing for the Kaldorei, or is it the cause?Regardless, it does feel strange that she talks about her time as Rootwarden for Teldrassil like it has been her life's work. Teldrassil was only grown 10 years before it was torched, so at most she has been in the job for 10 years. Do the Haranir live for thousands of years like so many other semi-related races? If so why would she feel like a single decade was such a long period of time? I think it is a nice touch that the other Elders don't seem to treat her as their equal, although that is also assuming the others have had their job for the full duration of their World Tree's life, and are not just the most recent Haranir to take up the mantle of each tree's Rootwarden.Although that raises the question of why the other Rootwardens have so little interest in the surface world. Did they think that the World Trees that spawned their roots were growing entirely by happenstance? Did they think that the World Trees were all entirely untouchable by any outside threat? Is there a process through which they select who will be the Rootwarden whenever a new World Tree's roots reach Harandar?I suppose I look forward to having the questions answered and probably finding out that they are another race of incredibly long-lived people who become apathetic, proud, or full of hubris that we will get to teach how to care about stuff again.
