Kala you are awesome! Thanks for that warlock dedication and knowledge. The thing that we warlocks love about affli is the dot power, currently Drain Soul is our first damage and that's a filler spell and malefic rapture our second damage, so dots do 0 damage now.... I remember a time when I put Agony+corruption+Syphon life in a monster and he died without anything else, and no ramp up time. Affli is better than in bfa, but blizzard has to put our primary damage on dots, not on shard spenders o fillers...
I switched to Destroy in BFA; because it was so much stronger than Affliction, but it feels like playing just another standard Mage spec.I'll be happy if I can return to Affliction now. I loved playing that in Legion.
Well thank you for that info Today I just started testing out a affliction undead warlock I'm likingbslot..what addons cani use to max my dots?
Agree, but i can't say you're 100% rightMain Problem with Warlocks in BFA was no talent choices. Some talents in the talent rows were just too strong compared to the another ones. You didn't mention almost anything about that last talent row needs changes ASAP. Also you didn't mentioned anything about GoS, as it feels so behind another talents. Drain Soul as Main spell: I love that idea, noone likes shadow boltNightfall Needs some drastic changes, i think it should work on Malefic RaptureI disagree about Mark of Borrowed Power, i think it's very good, About covenant, we have to also remember about soulbinds. Also, venthyr spell is a bit more.... versatile
This is great. Thanks very much!
anyone else miss when soulshatter was an aggro dump for locks? :/
Wow, a Shadowlands “State Of” post that was actually upbeat and positive? That might just be a world first! Glad to see that some specs are doing well. I may have to dust off my Warlock and play it during Shadowlands.
I agree that Drain Soul should be made baseline again. The nightfall talent idea makes alot of sense as well. I would love the Maelific Grasp talent reincorporated. I had planned a write up on the forums shortly but this is much more concise and from a name people actually know.Thank you.
Man Kala famous now!
@mods : can you put links to the other "State of x class" articles in each one ? thank you.
Wouldn't the Claw of Endereth legendary double the amount of life drains you could fit into your Soul Rot? Still probably wouldn't outweigh the other legendaries even under perfect conditions, but it's worth mentioning for those who want to play Night Fae
I keep seeing people mention how Door of Shadows is able to skip mob packs in shadowlands mythic+ but I wonder how many it will be a viable option for, considering the range is 35 which is 5 less than any given mobs aggro diameter you would have to have it at an angle, and every mob in the pack adds even more to that diameter, and if even 1 team member screws up by 1 yard you all fail collectively. So I wonder how reliable it will even be. Also, as I am not lucky enough to be in beta this time around, I can't test it, so I would love to see someone post a video of them actually reliably pulling it off.
Something I would like a confirmation on is Soul Rot and Darkglare, I'm assuming that Darkglare only extends the dot effect and the AOE drain buff is a separate thing that it does not extend.
Kinda like how they buffed affliction execute phase to make up for the lack of initial burst damage. Seems like the way to go.Nightfall: Tbh its a old talent which does not fit into current GCD plagued rotations (and it also competes with drain soul so i doubt this one will ever be good). If they revert GCD and we got more time to do stuff maybe. While afflicition looks strong i would also love if they change the last talent row its just so plain boring.
I am looking forward to see the information about Destruction, just to have something to compare with. While I am destro at the moment, Ive considering to focus on either of the other specs. So far my impression is that affliction got the most attention.
Given the reasoning made by OP I feel like Scouring Tithe would be a much better ability altogether if it made your next two/three soul shard expenders free instead of capping your soul shards. I don't know how would that be for the other two specs, though.
At the moment BFA made me stop playing warlock, which I played for 10 years btw, it was just no fun at all to play, I made a bunch of reroll to find something I actually enjoy. I hope these changes will make it a bit more fun to play.
