Well-deserved. Well, I can't speak to the other books on the list, but as a Warcraft novel Shadows Rising was pretty fun.
I love all the wow books, but for some reason I did not enjoy Shadow's Rising at all. It's probably my least favorite. It annoys me how much I don't like it because I am a big fan of tie-in novels. Even Knaak with his golden orbs of gilded eyes of gold orbness didn't bother me as much as that book.
Very much disagreed. This is much more about who the author is and what her politics are than this shallow novel.
shadow rising and before the storm seems more like fanfic books than actual books that blizzard would make, not counting how some events were retconeted later like sylvanas inner monologue They were shallow and rly not great compared to old ones, maybe the awful overall plot helped to make then less enjoyable, but the writing and how it was done isn't that good imo.
i didnt think it was very good
Good, Roux is a great writer and person, as far as I can tell. RemovedShe's a good writer and deserves the nomination and the showcase here.
The bar much be really low for this award? I would not even put Shadow Rising in the top 10 of WoW books....
Well neat. It's on my backlog of books to read, so I'll get to it after some others.
It's a decent enough novel, but frankly I'm of the opinion that putting major lore reveals into a tie-in novel rather than fleshing them out in game is a part of the problem. It's led to a hugely disjointed narrative, one you can see most clearly in 'A Good War' where Sylvanas' internal thoughts are about conquering Teldrassil and then it's revealed in Shadowlands that burning it to the ground to fuel the Jailer was always the plan.WoW's narrative is a complete and utter mess and this book can only be judged on it's own merits, entirely in isolation from anything else. Which is fortunate as that is seemingly how every part of the plot is developed inside the story team. We didn't expect something on the level of FF14's stellar story but same basic competence would have been nice.
