I don't mind this, since they seem to be doing Paladins for Alliance and Shaman for Horde. Horde are already the only ones getting Druids. If they had given them Paladins too, it would have really made things much worse.
I have to ask....the zandalari allied race isn't even available to test yet. how do we know they're not going to get paladins? minor previews are just that. save the ire for when it's verified, perhaps?Personally, I'd love the idea of a loa-paladin. I love horde paladins for that reason. sunworshipping tauren and melee-mage blood elves, far different from just the dull "I love naruu" sort on the alliance (not that I dislike that, but it's cool to see different types of paladin orders.) Loa-warriors would be awesome.
TROLLS the only race to be every class in the game!
Troll Paladins... I sincerely hope that will never happen.
A lot of people doesnt seem to get that dark irons doesnt care about any other element beside fire, fire and fire alone. Why would they seem to become shamans working with all four elements? Heck, their once leader whom summoned ragnaros was called -sorcerer thane thaurissan- Their favored specs would be fire mage and destruction warlock.
Meanwhile literally no one is complaining about dark irons unable to be shamans
I am fine with it because the last thing we need is another race that can be every class bar one (DK).I can guarantee that if Zandalari had Paladins, the Horde would be 90% Zandalari, especially because they don't have the baggage of normal Trolls.
So whats their excuse for priestesses of Rezan? Do they lose their faith too and we can't be Zandalari Priests? Whats with the double standard here? Priests and Paladins worship Rezan equally as much as each other. One shouldn't be effected over the other. In fact, Priests should be effected more if anything as they have zero physical strength or arms experience - they really entirely upon the light.Paladins on the other hand? Its 50/50 - light and arms.
Omfg! I'm heartbroken now.... Zandalari Paladin would have been my new main character.
It seems to me that when you continue to cave-in and bend the rules within the lore regarding which races make sense to play the different classes, eventually players will only continue to make new arguments that practically any race should be able to play as any class. So my question is, if Zandalari are allowed to become Paladins, where then do you draw the line for other races? How long before you are arguing that all of the other races should also be allowed to play as any class in the game, regardless of what makes sense for the story as Blizzard chooses to write it? If you can make the argument that Zandalari Trolls can become Paladins, then you can make the argument that Gnomes should be allowed to become Druids, and so on and so on. Maybe that is something you would like to see, but to others it's seen as something that destroys what defines Warcraft, and what it means to play as an Orc, or a Troll, or a Paladin, or a Druid. The class restrictions exist for a very good reason, and it's not to ruin your ability to enjoy a video game. It's to maintain some semblance of cohesion in a story that millions of people have come to know and love.I'm not trying to snuff out anyone's ability to have fun, I just think it's important to ensure that the Warcraft lore is protected as much as possible, without being too unreasonable. Blizzard has relented some where it made sense, but I hope they continue to draw the line somewhere. Paladins were never a Horde thing to begin with, and personally I don't see that as a problem. The same way that the fact that Alliance Shamans are limited in the very same way, is not a problem either. Alliance may have 3 choices for Shamans, but the Alliance only has 2 choices for Druids. There is no bias argument here whatsoever. When you are choosing what class to play, I feel like you should be choosing a race that makes sense to play that class. Maybe you think the lore is meaningless, or that it's been diluted and ruined already, but I completely disagree with you, and Blizzard does too. This is their story, if not being able to play a Gnome Druid is that big of a problem for you, I don't know what else to tell you.
Mama Mia! This is some top tier salt! Also, I love the part where Blizzard is either to dumb to know what people want or are an evil billionaire capitalist company out for all your money. There is no middle man in these comments.
Warcraft realms reports - 18% of the entire Warcraft player-base consists of Blood Elves, 18% consists of Humans, 16% consists of Night Elves, and finally all of the other races each make up less than 10% of the player-base for each given race. Additionally, there are slightly more Human Paladins than there are Blood Elf Paladins, and there are twice as many Humans Paladins, as there are of Draenei and Dwarven Paladins combined. Therefor, it's not much of a stretch to surmise that Troll Paladins aren't going to suddenly make the Blood Elf population take a massive hit. There will continue to be a huge Blood Elf population because the players themselves prefer to play the more human looking characters.Worldofwargraphs reports 21% of the Warcraft player-base consists of Blood Elves, 15% consists of Humans, 15% consists of Night Elves, and finally all of the other races each make up less than 10% of the player-base for each given race. This data tells pretty much the same story. Players prefer to play characters that closer resemble humans. Troll Paladins certainly wouldn't change that very much. The issue of the Horde player-base playing too many Blood Elves is a problem of the players who are choosing to play them, not that they are limited in options. Anyways, many will question the exact accuracy of these databases(including myself), but I think most, if not all players - cannot deny that in game they see far more Humans, Night Elves, and Blood Elves than any of the other races. I would think this data while not 100% accurate, is likely pretty well to close enough.
This sounds like an excuse :(Hope in the future in some patch they add finally the option through missions/reputation/whatever, to make able troll paladins.
Anything that works to further solidify the sharp contrast between the Alliance and the Horde, is a good thing! People have forgotten what it means to be Horde, and what it means to be Alliance. I don't give a crap about how it was in Vanilla, the simple fact is that today everything feels like a garbled mishmosh between the Alliance and the Horde, and the difference in their ideologies that made their opposition that much more interesting - has been severely lacking for years. Thank god that is changing with BfA. The fact that Classic servers are coming isn't making players wish the current game is made more like classic was, it's quite the opposite. Those who are excited about the Classic servers are now a lot more accepting about the current game being taken into a new direction. They understand what they are signing up for with Classic servers, and that is quite different than wanting the current game to be like it was during vanilla. I don't want the current game to be like Vanilla, but I love the idea of having a seperate server with the game like it was in Vanilla. These are two very different things, and those who seem to think otherwise are off their rocker, and just grasping for straws in an attempt to validate the tears in their eyes. I don't know where some of you get these preposterous ideas in your heads. Currently, the vast majority of WoW fans weren't even playing in Classic, and the current state of the game is proof that the most important fans to Blizzard, are simply the current customers who are actually playing the game now, not 10 years ago. As it well should be. Classic servers was Blizzards answer to Vanilla players. Blizzard hasn't been holding back in their attempt to try new things. If you truly think Vanilla players are somehow detrimental to the development of the current game, then you must be out of your goddamned mind! To believe any different is absurd.
