Power Infusion: Community Frustrations, Concerns and Possible Solutions

Party Buffs returning potentially making Power Infusion more powerful, this could cause even more problems when stacking it on top of these new party buffs and create feast or famine playstyles.

These Party Buffs could very well make Power Infusion even more favourable on classes that benefit more from reduced CDR, such as Warlocks and Fire Mages.

They could lead to more complicated scenarios based around CDR for certain specs/fights.

As the issue is now more one of timing, it could impact if Power Infusion is even valuable for a given spec due to their cooldown timings changing because of another group member.

It puts much more pressure on the Priest to “make the right choice” each time they cast Power Infusion.

Takes the pressure away from the priest to pick the right target every time

Reduces the risk of potential balance concerns caused by large amounts of secondary stats going to a single player

Aligns better with the "buffing your group" fantasy that's being pushed by other utility effects across the expansion

Less interesting / impactful for an individual player

Likely to be buffing people who don't have their cooldowns active and aren't going to make full use of the buff

Worse in smaller group content where you don't have a full party, such as PvP.

PI's value from spec to spec will be a lot closer, reducing the odds the same specs receive it all the time

Much simpler to balance, as there's no spec specific interactions to worry about

Potential confusion between PI giving haste to the priest and damage or healing to someone else

Potential problems in PvP as flat damage buffs are more likely to be abusable by burst classes

Comment by xxhzFor me, the problem with PI is the damage gain differential is so different between the top and bottom. If every spec got roughly the same benefit or they all have their own niche where it would be beneficial to receive it, then that would introduce some interesting decision making. It's the best most simple solution....Comment by TillituneFor people that enjoy "winning" the dps meter and not only killing the boss, receiving PI is almost as bad as not receiving PI, you are on an unfair playing field. It's unenjoyable either way. But as stated, this is not how they make their game, even though they clearly were moving away from this in WoD/Legion when I started playing and became attached to the game, made friends here etc, so yeah I got screwed for thinking they wouldnt return back to this model. #$%^ me, I guess right?Comment by NulgarMy idea (which probably was influenced if not outright spelled out by something I read elsewhere) would be to have the talent a) change PI itself into a self-only buff, but b) also grant a second ability on a separate cooldown that can be cast only on other people to give them the PI buff.

This separates the moments when you would cast it yourself (especially as a healer) and when you would cast it on another player (a dps, or on a healer if you're Shadow)Comment by BudisIf you cry you dont get PI in raid you probably for 90% dont deserve it or you suck at your class or your class has 0 impact with getting it. Even a guy with 8 PIs will not be rank 1 LOG when he gets all the running mechanic and all possible stuff to deal with. I mean i like being on the dps meter. But atleast i dont cry because i dont got 100 logs but only 90sh+ logs. Stop caring about your own ego in game and care more about the game and the possibility we get with each new spell/talent etc..........

You have to look at the picture what a priest brings to the table if PI is removed. That list is pretty bad: Outside of Power Word Fortitude you bring low mobility, bad surviveability (as healing specs) and one of the worst CC kits around.

You can clear content just fine without a priest in your party/raid.

I had a lot of fun with Overflowing Anima Cage earlier in the expansion as a Resto Shaman. Buffs also fit well into the support character fantasy.

I feel like the parsing problem is exactly that: a parsing problem. Also, the talk about things like PI allowing some people to "play a different" game with their cooldowns or rotation, I don't really understand the problem here. That's the point of buffing other players. If the buffs weren't impactful, why bother? I feel like more people have been upset at me for "stealing" their So'leah's Secret Technique's target than have been thankful for receiving it, because of how low-impact the buff is for other people.Comment by deathlavitzparty wide buff seems much better in my opinion - yes party not raid. It would make setting up your PI group like a melee windfury group. Where each person can be subbed out as per performance when under Pi and how CD's line up etc.Comment by M0NG033A lot of people are arguing about the parsing and logs component but taking away ALL of that… its unfair that ONE healer gets to inherently have more value than the other 5 (6?) because of a spell that makes others do more damage. In keys, priest is almost required because of the damage they deal, but also they make someone else do more damage too. Its frustrating as other healer specs to be blatantly disregarded because I wont be able to contribute as much as priest can to my group. Its objectively unfair, and no logs/tuning can change that. Give every healer a “support” spell, and then things would make more sense.
