Borean Man O' War ... the last fish I needed before realm first 450 fishing at 7 or 8 a.m. the night (/morning?) of Wrath's release.
My most epic drop is my Emerald Dragon Whelp. I'm a bit of a pet nut (I have the 50 achievement, and the feature I was most looking forward to when the big patch before Lich King came out was the fact that my bags would be free of wildlife.) I camped the little bugger for so long. I wish I could say that I got him after hours of camping, but fate was not so kind. I did spend hours slaughtering hundreds of whelps to get a pet whelp (to this day I don't get how this works...), but I was never rewarded for it except with some silver, a few gray items, and the mournful tears of green dragon whelp families realizing that their loved ones would not be home for the holidays. Rather, one day when my friends and I were going to Karazhan, I ran over to the Swamp of Sorrows to waste some time while people got there. I figured, why not? What if my whelp drops? The best way this story would end would be that the first one I killed drop it. Very poetic. This would not be so.It took three more whelps. Not bad, all in all....three more whelp pets to go...
After a long week of clearing through Naxxramas 40-man (before the Burning Crusade), Kel'Thuzad dropped the final piece of my Plagueheart Set, the Plagueheart Ring.
Another epic loot I got was both Brewfest rams on the first Brewfest, but the epic doesn't come from the mount itself, it comes from how I got the gold to get them... I remember when I was only level 35 with about ten gold to my name. When I heard the Darkmoon Faire was coming to Mulgore again, I headed over and saw some gems for sale for three gold. I bought some of them thinking I might be able to sell them for six, possibly seven gold. Little did I know that the gems that I bought were going for well over fifty gold. Ogling the big numbers, I put them up for just a little under the lowest price (which was about 65 gold). Lo and behold, they all sold within minutes and I had 185 gold. I stuck around a little longer to see if I could get other items of value, but only made another 30 gold. So not only did I get both mounts, I made 100 gold on top of that.EDIT: I can do more than one story, Excellent. So I was hanging around the 40-49 bracket, running flags, stalling nodes until more people arrive, just PvPIng in general, and I've got lots of memories from it. Making a turnaround from 0-2 alliance to 3-2 horde in WSG, winning 2000-1990 in AB, 5-cap win after alliance had 5 capped to 1000 points, ninjaing the flag from the alliance just as they're about to cap, partnering up with someone in the BG and laying waste to the entire team, and friends (or rivals :P ) that I'll never forget. Cmoney, Zahlia, Sheek, Ethiel, and anyone else I might have missed... BG's aren't about the rep. (...okay, maybe a little...) They aren't about the honor per hour. They aren't about the "OMG EPIC GEAR LOL". They're about the memories. The memories that I gained from 40-49 is my epic loot. What's yours?
Have to say that my most epic loot was when I got my Vanir's fist and S2 fist :)I could get into Karazhan easily for the rest of my gear (it was my first lvl 70 and i had never raided before)
Picking up the Horseman's Blade was definitely one of my most epic moments. I'd been trying to get it for days, and finally it dropped and I had an awesome weapon with a cool effect. The thing looks so damned great.
