My Flaming Piccolo.
My most epic loot drop was the first time we set foot in sunwell, I had been dreaming for a while about the new engy goggle upgrades and just wrote them off as, oh well, I'll never get them. Very first trash drop we got, there the recipe was! Being the only holy paladin in the raid they go to me! That night I crafted them and enjoyed being able to sport my goggles 100% of the time again.
Since I entered yesterday, I'm going to tell of my second most epic loot.Back in the days just after TBC was released, you actually had to do attunement to do anything. After running failed SL after failed SL for the first key fragment, i finally got into a group that made it to the end. The runs didn't fail because we were bad, simply because nobody wanted to finish them. People would leave, or have to go and we wouldn't be able to replace them due to the hours i played, so you can imagine my excitement when i FINALLY got into a run that made it past Blackheart. We ended up finishing the run, and i got my first key frag. :)~death~
I cleared Karazhan every week since the 2nd week of the Burning Crusade, and never saw the trash drop my necklace (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30666). After several upgrades in Zul'Aman and Black Temple, etc., I still needed this necklace, just out of principle. I'd estimate about 50 full clears, some with guildies/alts, and many with frustratingly bad PUGs before finally giving up. I stopped running it as a rule, and focused my attention on other upgrades, since after all, the thing wasn't even that good anymore. I get a tell from a friend asking for help, and after he promises the group isn't a massive failure, I figure "hey it's a shot at a Mongoose enchant". Not only did the Mongoose enchant drop, and I won it, but the trash near Netherspite dropped the necklace! I promptly rolled need, won and immediately disenchanted it. The Void Crystal it yielded is still in my bank.
Another epic loot came from Zul'Farrak. I had been using the same mace since Razorfen Downs, and I desperately needed a new one. At the time I had not yet discovered how useful the Auction House could be. So, I made an off-hand comment about how I could use a new mace. The very next mob dropped a brand-spankin' new mace, just for me! Everyone immediately said I could have it. (Of course, it helped that none of them used maces.) I forgot the name by now, but it had a random chance to do a Thunderclap-like ability on a hit.
My most epic loot was the Merciless Gladiator's Idol of Steadfastness because it was the signal that it was the end of my countless hours of honor/marks farming. It felt good to finally finish my pvp set.
