The most epic loot I've probably ever gotten was Blinkstrike, even if I didn't keep it! I was a few thousand gold short of my epic flyer and doing the mana berries cooking daily in Netherstorm when I had to kill a lynx or two that got in my way. And bam! It dropped. I was thrilled, and even though it took a bit to actually sell, it put a lot towards my flyer fund!
Most epic "loot" was probably the first time we downed Ragnaros in the old school raiding days. As soon as we dropped him after the countless attempts we hear our guild leader screaming and all of the sudden he disconnects. We get an post from him on the website later saying he knocked his monitor over and it broke, haha. So a couple days later he finally got to use those t2 legs he got off of rag, so epic.

I think for me it has to be back in vanilla WoW when i finaly finished my T1 set after months waiting for the last piece to drop. :3
Clearly Gorehowl!an item I since warcraft always was drooling at in the big Thrall and Gronn Hellscream Vs. Mannoroth (axe worn by Gronn)so now i have that axe in my bank, 2 hand axe, on a warlock. just for the looks and for the story
I will have to say the most epic loot I ever got was back in Molten Core, we had just killed Golemagg for the first time and the Robes of Prophecy dropped and I won the roll, yet this was back in the day of major master loot bugs so the master looter was not able to give me my loot. Unwilling to pass up on my loot I petitioned a GM to fix the issue and was responded to in short order. A GM ended up teleporting into MC near our raid waiting in front of Majordomo and was instantly pulled and killed ,being a lvl 1 after all. We ended up fight Domo as the GM resurrected himself and traded me my Robes of Prophecy in combat.
OK, so check it... My guild used to run Molten Core, like, a lot. I am a lowly rogue, trying to get some Nighstalker gear, maybe a Gutgore RIpper. One day, we drop a boss, and BAM, this drops: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=18563Drool-o-rama, and I win it.But here's the kicker - Weeks go by, and the other half doesn't drop, until one week, I am sick, and don't go, and guess what?THE OTHER HALF DROPS and one of the Warriors nabs it.Neither of us ever got Thunderfury. Just tragic, but I do love seeing that glint of orange color in my bank still. ;)
The most epic drop for me in my WoW experience was in Wrath when I hit level 77 by doing the epic quest chain in Undercity that resulted from doing the Wrathgate quest chain. But not only did I reach level 77, it gave me the last few pieces of gold that I need to pay for all three of my flying skills, with some left over to save up for my first epic flying mount (the Reins of the Red Drake, I already had my normal flying mount sitting in bank for a long time, just waiting for me to get the skill).
The best epic drop I ever got was just getting the Don Santos Hunting Rifle off of some random mob. I was very lucky :) .
Mine must have been back pre-Bc when I was solo farming Baron, Thou I never did get his mount after god knows how many painfully long runs I did get his http://www.wowhead.com/?item=13505 . Alas my druid couldn't use it but at least I got something from him.
