Not a drop per se, but http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19970 from the STV fishing tourny was my proudest moment. Had spent every Sunday afternoon for literally months trying to win and I finally did. Glad this is still the best pole in the game.
My most epic drop was probably a rare jewlcrafting recipe. Not much, but that was my first recipe drop =).I sold it for 250g, which was a lot at the time for me.
The fight was Heroic Azjol-Nerub (Anub'arak). We had wiped once before due to one of the add's Poison Volley. Well on take two we do really well through the first 2 waves of adds. Then the last one comes and yet again 2 adds spam Poison Volley and kill me (the healer), the mage, and the shadow priest. The only 2 that are standing are the druid tank and a death knight. My first thought was that they will last for a while but die eventually. Then the epic happened, not only did both of them keep them selves healed through everything that Anub'arak could throw at them, but they ended the fight (15% to dead) with full health! This fight got me the last badge that I needed for The Egg of Mortal Essence, but I consider that as just a small bonus of the epic fight that I had the privilege of witnessing.

The last peice of gear I needed from Karazhan back in the early BC days was the Ripflayer leggings from Netherspite.Unfortunatly at that time (Our guild had recently lost some key players) we we're having a hard time downing him, It was like we we're back to progression!Naturaly people we're rather reluctant to spend a lot of repair gold on this one random boss from Karazhan, they we're a great group of players though, after describing how much I needed that peice of gear and how much it sucks that we couldnt clear all of Kara, I convinced them to give him some attempts late one raid.We did not down him that night unfortunatly, and eventualy people had to go and we called the raid, the very next night we we're all back trying him again though (must have been 10 or so attempts).Again we did not down him, but again we had a full raid of people willing to spend their gold on this, that third night the leggings did drop and I won them, it felt great to get a good peice of gear thanks to the awesome dedication of my guildies.
Hrmm, the most Epic loot drop I have ever gotten is a tie between Nemesis Spaulders from Chromag or the Cloak of the Brood Lord from Nefarian, got them both in the same day on our first clear of BWL.
problay last week. did a pug 25 man raid and got my first t7 gear. was soo happy seeing priest healing gloves drop & being the only holy priest in the raid made my day.
I'd have to say the item i most wanted to drop but never did would have to be the Shivering Felspine from Sunwell Plateau
So back in late '04, on my mage, our guild was doing our weekly MC run. We killed Magmadar and Netherwind Mantle dropped! (This was of course before they removed the item from MC only to implement it later in BWL) We had several mages on the raid, so rolls went off - 2 of the mages got rather average rolls but my good buddy rolled a 95! It was pretty apparent who was going to win this one, but I rolled for s&g..... /roll ... 97! The mantle was mine :D The item never dropped again and unfortunately that guild never made it to Chromaggus to give him a second chance at it :>Even though at the time the item had a very lackluster placeholder graphic, it was still neat to have one of the first pieces of T2 loot =) To this day I still tease him about the Netherwind Mantle roll-off of '04.
