It is not a mechanic but clearly a bug. Misdirection runs for 8 seconds.and has a CD of 30 seconds. The bug is that when you cancel misdirection by clicking on the buff icon only the icon disappears but misdirection lasts infinite. This is how thy could hold aggro on the plagueborer to get them snapped into the fighting area-And indipendent from Blizzard should have fixed this blablabla, the rules are crystal clear, using a bug intentionally to your advantage is bugabuse and need to be punished. There is not the slightest doubt that the hunter started misdiection and cancled it the same second without knowing the bug. he did that in every single run. Why? ;-)if this is eSports where is the fairness and sportsman spirit? Shame on Echo. Lost so much reputation for a few bucks...
Oh no, who could have guessed that turning speedrunning into the primary form of endgame small-group content would lead to the proliferation of the speedrunning community's acceptance of and reliance on exploits and bugs in order to gain an advantage, or that Blizzard's regular culling of non-development staff would lead to them just resigning to letting snapping stay as-is instead of fixing it.
I wonder if these people will also receive in-game bans and punishments for clever use of game mechanics like everyone else does when they do something similar with far less rewards on the line?

If this can't be replicated by just tagging the Plagueborer and FDing and it is using a permanent MD bug then definitely an exploit and they should be banned for using it.
The druid tank probably needed to heal here and there while the mobs were rooted which cause threat. MD doesn't transfer than much threat specially if the mob are snapping quickly after the initial attack. Doesn't prove anything obviously but it's very strange that he would hide his UI then cast MD for no reason.
"Players may not use known bugs or exploits in the Great Push Tournament matches, as determined by the Tournament administration. Intentional usage of bugs or exploits may result in a time penalty being applied to your run, forfeiture of that game/match, or other disciplinary action at Blizzard’s sole discretion."Just to be clear this is the word for word explanation of the rule for bugs/exploits. People here are just talking about it without linking or even reading it. Echo would only be punished if this was determined by the Tournament administration to be an exploit. Which it was not. Making this a valid strategy to use. Teams have been punished in the past for using bugs and exploits during the MDI, but in those cases Blizzard had communicated that those exploits were not allowed beforehand; yet the teams did it anyway. In this case no such restriction was added, so it was considered a valid strategy to use. I know a lot of the people here just hate that Echo's roster won again, but they did 100% follow the rules and even asked before using this. This was open to all teams to use, and while one other team did attempt it, they failed. This competition is about strategy and execution; don't lay blame on the one team that was obviously more prepared for that one dungeon.
