The change to legendary crafting shouldn't have had to even be a thing, but since it is - It's way too late. I'll not be sinking my gold into crafting legendaries that will only be used for 2 patches, thank you.
Make it a Hotfix instead of waiting for a new patch after so much dissatisfaction. And don't repeat this mistake for 10.0. Use the damn alpha/beta feedback.
Another example of “over correction”. The 15 crafts per rank they started with was entirely excessive. Somewhere between 5 and 10 would have been more than enough to make the leveling painful enough. But now only 3, as though to make up for the excessive number at the beginning, seems kind of silly. By the time most of us accumulated enough cosmic flux for a rank 7 piece, the amount of gold needed to buy one on the AH thanks to those who ground it out to be able to craft them, was well worth the incentive to stop crafting. Shame on you Blizz, for taking away the incentive from the dedicated crafters who made it possible for the rest of us by ruining their ability to profit from it, and for eliminating the incentive for the rest of us who lack the time to even bother trying to acquire thousands upon thousands of mats Over so much time for so little progress. For many of us, the concept of work life balance is a genuine thing. For Blizz, there is no balance; it’s all about more and even more time in game. Many of my friends have left the game for that very reason - it’s just no longer worth the time.
People complaining about ranking up legendaries when the ZM vendor already has an item, for ~5k that can be used on RANK 1 RECIPES TO CRAFT THEM ALL THE WAY TO RANK 5 (WITH THE RANK 1 MATS).
This is a partly welcome change for completionists like myself who like to have every pattern in-game, and craft them for their alt-army and for Guildies for free in return for the mats. However, it still is a kick-in-the-teeth for those who levelled professions later than day 1. It doesn't address those mid-crafters who, for whatever reason, weren't able to find, for example, the 10m gold to buy Orboreal Shards to craft all but-one of the tailoring patterns (all 10,000+ of them at 100g each). They will not have been able to sell more than a few Rank 7s at 70K each as they will have been undercut immediately by cancel-scanning Goblins who tank the prices down to "barely profitable" within days of release (after all, they made their gold in the first patches when Rank 1s etc were still viable, current, sales, not a total loss, selling, rarely, for 25g at less than 1/10th of the vendor-mats-alone cost). I enjoy crafting, but I reckon that each slot has cost me between 500 and 1m gold to level over the course of 9.1 and 9.2, 26 million for tailoring alone (bearing in mind mats prices vary hugely over servers). I can accept that as it's something I enjoy doing, even if I would far rather have had that gold to spend on other things. Most players could not afford that sort of investment. I hope that designers consider this failure next expansion. On most servers, new crafters still will not make a profit. It is still going to cost 300K, per profession, in Vendor mats, and you are unlikely to recoup this cost. Even at 3 crafts per item, unless you are willing to (a) farm your own mats and (b) sell each one at around 100-1,000g profit v selling the mats instead. Assuming you don't immediately get under-cut by a cancel-scanner.
I almost feel like they're deliberately doing this only after everyone has already collected their sets, bought their legendaries and prices have started to finally come down anyway. It's way too late to make a change that should have been in on release. What do they think I'm going to do now, level all my patterns that I no longer need just to get rid of some more gold in vendor mats? Hard pass, thanks. Please get it right from the start in 10.0.
Lmao the legendary crafting changes is a slap in the face to the playerbase... I mean don't get me wrong, better late than never, but holy cow, imagine the amounts of gold spent to rank up your legendary crafting only for them to implement this change later on in the expansion's life cycle....It seems like it's better to hold off on playing the game when it's current content, and just wait until later on once everything has been nerfed/reduced in difficulty. Which is not how a game should be....
