Hey blizzard shill, do your research, talk afterwards. Check historical data and dps charts.
I don't even play ret and I still think it's a bit bull&*!@ their numbers keep getting nerfs. Even if they r a bit OP... let em be. Ret paladin has been garbage for YEARS. Stop kicking classes when they r down
Buff dh
Ret feels SO GOOD on the PTR and pumps out the damage. These nerfs are warranted. Don’t worry, the new ret is still going to be leaps and bounds better than the current live iteration.
here s a conspiracy theory: since paladin is maybe the most popular class, ret will be eternally subpar to enforce the choice of holy or prot to compensate the permanent tank and heal shortage... at least paladins still get to save the day for others, right?
This is really a bit too much of a nerf on the AOE front. Templar Strikes is probably not even worth taking for AOE anymore. Actually, even Crusading Strikes is probably not worth it for AOE either. That's really odd. And where's the power in our generators that we were supposed to be getting with this rework? Really odd. After this tuning, the rotation hasn't really changed.. at all. We just don't have Exorcism anymore.
as we have all learned over the years, Blizzard definitely does not know how to manage and balance its classes (some may disagree with me)but all paladins (definitely ret) have become convinced in the last 3-4 weeks that Blizzard definitely knows how to destroy one of their specializationsour new ST dps can be said to be really better, but that only applies because of the set bonus from S1 to S2, the set bonus won't help us at all unless the buff from GJ stacks more than it can thanks to the talent (honestly, all 3 paladin specializations have an absolutely terrible set bonus in S2 not to mention that hideous skin, I envy priests so much)and our new aoe thanks to the recent nerf absolutely knocks us out of M+ ret brings practically nothing to the party so why bring someone to the party who with the current build from the PTR on 5 static dums will do less DMG than on 4 moving targets at retail
Nerf Pally to the ground is a proud Blizzard tradition.
So I just did some testing for anyone interested in actual numbers. 5 target cleave with my 376 alt pally went from 81k live to 85k so a 5~% damage increase. This is down from low 100ks before the hotfix. Absolutely brutal and means ret will be in the same exact spot for m+ just a little harder to kill. Rotation definitely feels smoother but this hotfix gutting templar strike and blade of justice seems like massive overkill, filler abilities now do no damage and 30% is from divine storm. With my 415 guardian druid being ignored and ret buffs being reverted I'm starting to think someone at blizz really hates my specs.Quick note on the prot nerf as well total hp is down ~1% and armor is down ~3%.Just not sure I see a point in redesigning a bottom tier spec if you aren't going to buff it at all. It's exactly what happened with the guardian talent rework in 10.0.5. Changing a bad class to be bad in a slightly different way doesn't do much.
So wait, hang on. Holy Paladin is currently subpar and is only worth their utility. Prot is getting some pretty significant survivability nerfs, and Ret is in TBD territory since the rework might not be working currently but if it is working then the rework is actually a nerf. What is actually the point of Paladins at this point? Every spec is being nerfed and objectively better specs are untouched.
