So what they're doing in overwatch is they're selling PvE missions but you can't get them separately. You can only buy them in a bundle that also includes $xx worth of virtual currency. But obviously the price for the bundle is higher than it would have been for just the missions, right? So throwing in fake currency is nothing more than a way to jack up the real money price of other things they put in the bundles. If that's where this is going, you might pay $5,- more for heroic version because it includes $10,- of essentially worthless tender and half the community will tell you to stop complaining because it's a great deal.
"but it may be included in certain bundles."That's still bad.
They saw the overwhelmingly negative reaction to the idea of tenders being sold and decided to change their plans. That's all there is to it."May be sold as part of a bundle" is the telling part, because this is exactly what they did in China to circumvent the newly-passed law requiring companies to disclose odds on all drops from purchased lootboxes. They removed them as a separate purchase and bundled them in as a "free gift" for buying small amounts of the in-game currency they slapped on the store specifically to provide an excuse. So don't think for a moment they're not still going to sell you tenders. The only difference now instead of "Here's 200 tenders for $5" it'll be "Here's a stack of consumables for $5 and as a free bonus here's 200 tenders."And the thing is? PEOPLE WILL EAT IT UP. There will be countless who will look you dead in the eye and with a straight face tell you that they're "not selling tenders."
I wish there was enough tender to just buy the things offered rather than create fomo. Definitely not a positive experience from that.
Much prefer if they just straight out sold them. They can, and SHOULD absolutely be selling Tenders for real money. Not doing it - is bad business, and bad for the consumer who wants more cosmetics and is willing to pay for it. As long as player power isnt blocked behind it - who cares. Get another cloak, or mount you'll never ride!
This is a fine thing as long as it's a bonus rather than contributing to the price.
Ill bite. Notice how he didn't explicitly say tender wont be sold on the store, nor did he explain why these files showed up in the first place. They wil eventually make it to the store/special editions and such, just not now :)
But in a bundle with other shop items! :D
all the people who flipped a Lid when those assets were datamined are prob like LOOK WE DID SOMETHING. yet there never was the plan
Or it could be... Bought from a vendor via in-game gold? Which, hey I'd be fine with being able to purchase considering how pisss easy it is to make in current. Maybe limit each amount purchasable to 1 of each stack per month, costs are the same as heirloom upgrades.
