The burning of Teldrassil was not like Thanos snapping his fingers. They didn't just simply vanish--they were burned alive. I realize this is supposed to be a fantasy game for all ages, but think about it for a moment: those who died from smoke inhalation were the lucky ones. If the fires got you, the pain and anguish would have been unimaginable. And she did this to thousands. Men, women, children, families. She might think she had "good intentions" in the long run, but it doesn't matter. What she did was unforgivable. You can't redeem a character like Sylvanas Windrunner and still be taken seriously as a writer and storyteller.
I wonder if in any moment other characters will know about Sylvanas's suicide. Killing yourself because of your constant pain and finding out that you will suffer forever can, in some part, conditionate your actions before that.It is sad because to many people want her dead ignoring the inmense amount of bad things that happened to her.Don't get me wrong; she need to be judged, but killing her... is more the same. The real problem is in the Shadowlands, where an uncountable amount of souls can't get the afterlife they want/deserve.If we can not fix this problem, no matter if Sylvanas die, soon a new one will rise, with the same objetives. She is the product and the walking proof of the injustice of the universe, where the cosmic forces, titans, etc manipulate the fate of the mortals for their own goals.
It's simple, she wants revenge on the person who killed her. She thought that person was Arthas, but it turns out Arthas was as much a victim as all those his body was used to slaughter. Her plan will always be revenge, just now her gaze has shifted to the Jailer. Much like Illidan infiltrating the Burning Legion.. she's working on it from the inside.
world of sylvanas
Don't come for My Queen!
This reeks of the same thing they said in BfA with the whole "Who really knows what happened to Teldrassil?" schtick they tried to push when their writing is about as blunt as a hammer. At this point there will be no such thing as a satisfying ending for anyone even if she dies or survives. The whole thing is just a mess.
What's there to analyze? Her writer is suffering from Pygmalion syndrome, and whatever happens in the next raid, she's going to pull a karma houdini because Danuser won't let his darling fess up to what she's done.
Glory for the Dark Lady We need a third Faction
"We never had free will"You could've like.. Chosen not to burn people in Teldrassil but sure. Go ahead
Some of this is my "fan fiction" going into overdrive as I wait for Blizzcon...I'd want to hear Sylvanas repeat the words that Varian Wrynn said in the cinematic where Anduin sees him while visiting Broken Shores. She says the words to prove to us that Anduin has turned "mawsworn."Varian answered Anduin's question in patch 7.2 cinematic with: "What a king must do..."Off topic: Have you ever noticed that Anduin has the same furrowed brows stare as the people in Afterlives videos (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLY0KbDiiFYeMKqoVennanCSUACn6lXovw and https://youtu.be/THSowKTA61Q?t=159 to compare). (Blizzard never does things by accident!)I think Anduin began his story arc on Broken Shore. I think this is the climax of this story. I would cheer if at the moment of Anduin's downfall (i.e. when he goes 100% "mawsworn" / "lich king" on us in the battle) that suddenly we hear Varian's voice say: "...what a king must do..." a moment later. And that hearing his father's voice snaps Anduin from the change she has caused to happen...In the video showing us what happened with Uther, the thing that stood out to me is the "two soul split." I've since thought that the same happened with Sylvanas. When you look at the Warbringer video, first you see her "blue soul" then Arthas does "something" with her causing the black smoke then as she screams she has red eyes. I think that he ripped out the two soul parts, and put back in the "red part" and it's the red part that's likely the basis for malice, hatred and other such emotions in context of the way people behave in the game. Notice how any "red-eyed" person is usually angrier, more filled with hatred, etc. Pyromancer has previously hinted at this in a video from months ago. In the Uther Afterlives video it's clear that Uther has blue eyes. He reasons that when he drops Arthas into the Maw it's "not vengeance... justice." It means the the blue part represents justice, peace, friendship, love, etc. So based on this (plus the fact we know Sylvanas doesn't value love anymore) that the Banshee found her body again, but not the missing blue part of the soul that would have restored the person as a whole. She probably didn't notice that there was a part of her soul missing, and when she got into the body it left part of it open to get used. When she jumped off Icecrown that's when the Jailer took control of her and put the notion of Azeroth being a prison into her mind. She thinks she is "whole again" but in reality she shares her soul with part of the Jailer's soul. Maybe he "took out" his soul (creating the gap) when he put his soul into her. She's been carrying the Jailer around Azeroth since the day she arrived back from jumping off Icecrown, and the twin Jailer soul compelled her to go back to the Maw.The interesting part would be if suddenly Anduin comes to his senses, turns and does to Sylvanas what Arthas did to Uther, then as the Jailer's soul (which was the black smoke we saw) comes out of her, a blue soul comes from the sword, and it goes into Sylvanas. She drops to her knees, repeating: "Do... what a king must do..." (this is her remorse and redemption moment), but Anduin being who he is drops down the sword same as how he did in the BFA cinematic and pulls in the light that restores a small portion of the Maw to how it looked before it was destroyed (which was caused by Zovaal pulling his soul out and putting it into Sylvanas btw) - think of the moment when we planted a tree in Vale of Eternal Blossoms where it looks pretty and green compared to the rest of the place. Anduin heals Sylvanas, but in doing so binds her to the Maw for eternity (similar to Ysera's fate). She's still Sylvanas, but now is the "fifth key to open the way" (the other places of Shadowlands are the other four). And onwards to Patch 9.2 where the Brokers reveal they're the real baddies of Shadowlands. ;-)
Man, i miss Sylvanas as Warchief. I didn't join the Horde for this goody two shoes BS. A Council? Striving for peace? Can I please have the faction that I joined back? I want war not peace!
Sentiment: "Life & Death in WoW is murky, which means morality around Life & Death in WoW is murky."-Players who agree with the sentiment seem to be enjoying the story. Significant events (like Teldrassil) had unclear implications. Many theories to debate, but a lot of questions are still unanswered, so the suspenseful story arcs are exciting.-Players who disagree with the sentiment seem to be annoyed by the story. Significant events (like Teldrassil) had clear implications. Appropriate/proportionate responses are obvious, and very few questions are still unanswered, so the suspenseful story arcs are irritating. My forsaken toon has been navigating ambiguous Life & Death questions under Sylvanas' leadership for 15 years. I'm on the edge of my seat. But I can understand how players who've had a different WoW experience don't feel the same.
Sylvanas can do everything she wants, i still love her. FOR THE DARK LADY!
They took our kingdom's future and ow we'll take theirs.
Yeah, I think Sylvanas will sacrifice herself and betray The Jailer at the last minute.
